    The band commented:

“With the deluxe edition we feel like we’re closing the post apocalyptic chapter of ‘From The New World‘. The story we set out to tell was one of collapse, but also of survival, and in the aftermath, we now see nature recovering, and with it comes a cautious sense of hope. The acoustic songs reflect that same shift. We stripped away everything usually associated with our sound. There is no heavy production, no layers, no perfect takes, just the raw essence of who we are. It’s a way for us to invite listeners closer, to share something fragile, unpolished, and human.”

  • Avoid Premiere New Song “Sour Apple”

Avoid have premiered a new song titled “Sour Apple.” This track is from the band’s new EP, “Creature Of Habit,” which will be released on November 14. Vocalist Benny Scholl said the following about the single:

“We’re so stoked to release our new track ‘Sour Apple.’ What’s funny is this name initially came up just as a demo name. ’cause there was a Sour Apple-flavored vape in the room. We worked out the instrumentals, and then when we finished the vocals and the lyrics, we were trying to come up with what the song will be called. The song is about reflecting on the past and letting go, but also being able to be upset when things haven’t always gone your way. In a way, kind of being a ‘Sour Apple’ about things sometimes and we realized that the name ended up representing the song perfectly.”

  • Leprous Share “Passing” Live Video

  • The Undertaking! Premiere New Song “All Smiles”

The Undertaking! have premiered a new song titled “All Smiles.” This track will appear on the band’s upcoming EP “Only Left Alive To See The End.” The group commented:

“Imagine Jerad Leto in ‘Fight Club’ giving the biggest grin possible despite a mouth full of blood and a couple missing teeth (the less we talk about Leto the better, okay? just got with the imagery). That’s the vibe of ‘All Smiles’ the new single by The Undertaking! Ripping from start to finish, the song ends with this admission: ‘Had a bad habit of eating teeth.’ At some point in life, we’ve all been punched in the mouth, literally or figuratively, and ‘All Smiles’ reckons with the idea that despite our best intentions, sometimes it’s best to just smile and go on with your day.”

  • Max Cavalera Says The Tapes For Soulfly’s First Album Were Buried To Give Them “Indigenous Power”

During a recent interview with Alternative Nation, Soulfly’s Max Cavalera explained why the band’s first album features a photo of Chino Moreno (Deftones) holding a pickaxe. As it turns out, the picture was related to a decision to bury the tapes for the record to give them “indigenous power.”

    Cavalera said the following:

“We buried [the recordings] in Indigo Ranch. We knew there was a burial ground there — like, [an] Indian burial ground [from] 300 years ago. So, I wanted to capture the essence of the land, of the Indigenous power. So, me [and] Chino from the Deftones, we dig big holes, we put the tapes there. We closed it, let it spend the night. The next day, dug them up. It was cool. It was kind of crazy, but fun at the same time.

“That’s why in the album, there’s a picture of Chino with a shovel, and the shovel is from when we were digging the holes — that’s why he has a shovel. People are like, ‘Why is he holding a shovel in a picture?’ That’s why. Because we’re digging holes in Indigo Ranch, in the Malibu hills.”

He went on to say that he thought it would “help the record somehow.” He also added:

“There’s not really an explanation for it. Just fun and the madness of metal.”

  • Conjurer Premiere “All Apart” Video

Conjurer have premiered a new video for their new song “All Apart.” This track is from the band’s newly released album “Unself.” Guitarist/vocalist Dani Nightingale commented:

“I approached this song with the idea in mind of the first bricks that make up the metaphorical wall someone might put (or find) between them and their surroundings, the world they inhabit, both physical and metaphysical. For many people in a similar or comparable position to mine, those initial instances of disassociation and alienation begin at school, when one is first integrated into a social and educational environment with their peers and those who watch over them. I can’t describe what it’s like to be vilified for behaviours and traits that are just normal and natural to you, but because no-one understands you – not even yourself – you’re forced to adhere to things you don’t understand and become something you’re not.”
