Invent Animate Premiere “Elysium” Music Video

Invent Animate have premiered a new video for their new song “Elysium.” Vocalist Marcus Vik commented:

“When my grandfather got sick, I was a 15-year-old boy with no emotional grip on my world. We were close, but his sickness was something I didn’t see. It might’ve been because I didn’t want to see it or that I was too scared. When he passed, I didn’t comprehend the mourning, I didn’t feel it, and that made me feel shame. It took me 12 years to wake up one day and embrace it, and it hit me like a wave of odd emotions that I’ve never felt before. Grief is upon me and this is the story of me looking back, searching my inner self and looking forward.”

Invent Animate Premiere New Song “Shade Astray”

Invent Animate have premiered a new song titled “Shade Astray.” Trey Celaya commented:

“‘Shade Astray‘ is a confessional realization that a relationship has run its course. It admits that it fell far from the ideal they had put on a pedestal, leaving both their ego and the relationship shattered when things are broken beyond repair. At this crossroads, the loss you fear the most is exactly what has to happen. Someone stronger than you has to be able to walk away when you are self-sabotaging. And the only wisdom to be gained is the knowledge that you are not the savior. There’s nothing to be salvaged and you must accept failure and let failure be your teacher. It’s a lesson only learned in solitude.”

Invent Animate Offer Update On Upcoming Album

Invent Animate have shared a new update on their upcoming album. The band are currently working on vocals for the effort.

The group said the following:

“LP4 vocal sessions –

In our more youthful days, recording meant a 5-week intensive of tracking all instruments and vocals and coming out with an album on the other side. More recently we are learning that we operate best when we have some time to try new ideas without the pressure of a due date. We are a band that’s about the details, and we like to sit back and reflect on what we’ve done to make sure our connection with it is inspired and emotive. We’ve also learned that having an outside ear during the process helps freshen things up and keeps the creativity flowing, so we’ve been working with @landontours on vocal production. When we get home from Detroit, we’ll track additional vocals and guitars ourselves, so we won’t have to worry if we’re punishing the engineer when we ask to do another take of that pinch harmonic because it wasn’t squealy enough.”

Invent Animate Premiere “The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was” Music Video

Invent Animate have premiered a new double feature music video featuring the songs from their newly released EP “The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was.“ You can watch that below:

Drummer Trey Celaya commented:

“‘The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was‘ is a story of two interconnected perspectives of addiction, the afflicted, and the innocent. The afflicted is increasingly consumed by his vices, distracted, and secretive, and ultimately distorts his connection with his loved one, leaving only fractured memories in place of the love they once had.

These lyrics are based on a true story surrounding my family’s history with addiction, and with these songs, I wanted to bring to light how subtle the signs are and how severe the damage can be when these dark secrets stay buried. The importance of perspective has been my biggest takeaway from all of this turmoil, and sadly, most addicts fall into addiction with a spirit of naivety, thinking it will cost them nothing.

If you are the afflicted, consider the cost of losing everything you love and hold dear. If you are the innocent, consider the cost of enabling your loved ones. It is not loving, and it is not too late for recovery.”

Invent Animate Sign With UNFD, Announce New EP “The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was”

Invent Animate have signed a new deal with UNFD. The band will be releasing a new EP, titled “The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was,” through the label on September 23. The effort’s first single, “The Sun Sleeps,” can be found below:

The following was said about the EP in a press release:

“Searingly close to drummer Trey Celaya and his family’s story navigating a drug addiction crisis, it comprises a one-two punch of songs describing both perspectives of this tragic and deeply painful scenario. The first track, today’s “The Sun Sleeps” sheds light on the story from the perspective of the drug affected, meanwhile the accompanying “As If It Never Was” explores the view of those left reeling in the sphere of impact of drug addiction.”

Celaya continued:

“Despite all attempts to keep our darker reality shadowed in secrecy, there comes a moment in time when the truth can no longer be hidden behind closed doors or empty excuses. And at once, everything is revealed, as if the Light is a constant law of nature laying bare the secrets we believe are ours to keep. In this infinite moment, the bond shared between two loved ones is severed. The flow of time does not wash away the scars, it only immortalizes what is suspended in the balance – the pain of loss, the gift of hindsight, and the curse of hope. What will always be a memory. This EP is a true story of addiction and the trauma that lies in its aftermath of a secret too dark to be hidden.”

He also added the following about the new song:

“We wanted to explore both sides of a deeply painful situation, and to draw out how nuanced and weird and difficult these things can be. I think people are learning in the modern day it’s not as simple as ‘this is just a bad person, and they were addicted to drugs and they did it to themselves’, there’s always a string of trauma and things that are not dealt with and stigmatized mental health that sets off a spiral. Even if one person is clearly in the wrong, it doesn’t exempt them from being a victim in another sense.”
