    The band commented:

“We are really excited to release ‘Descent’ this year. The vibe and feel of this new one is almost addictive. We couldn’t be happier with how it came out and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it! This album takes what we’ve done on the last couple of records and truly brings it to a new level. The material stays true to our roots, but also goes into some new territory at times, being somewhat ambitious, but taking nods from even our earliest moments.

We always strive to create interesting songs, and I believe we have achieved that on every track here. It’s truly one of the best records we’ve done, with an amazing production, atmosphere and flow. We look forward to playing it all live for you soon! Enjoy the ‘Descent‘!”

  • Insomnium Recruit Guitarist Tomy Laisto

Insomnium have welcomed Tomy Laisto (Hateform, Pain Confessor, etc.) to the band. He will be serving as the group’s third guitarist.

    Insomnium commented:

“With great pleasure we welcome Tomy Laisto as official member and third guitarist of the band. Most of you have already witnessed him on tour with us in the past two years and he’s a familiar face, but for the upcoming album it was about time to turn Insomnium into a quintet again and make this gentle fella from Turku a full-time member.”

    Laisto added:

    “Hello fellow humans!

My name is Tomy Laisto, some of you I have already met along the way during last couple of years of being on the road with these guys…

At the end of 2023, I was asked to fill-in for one show in Zurich with relatively short notice and as things went smooth (I guess), I was asked to do some more, so I ended up filling in for quite a few shows all over the globe! At some point last year the guys took the cat out of the bag and asked me to join the band as a full-time member, which I gladly accepted!

My old band shared a rehearsal place with Insomnium in 2005 and I vividly remember them even borrowing my old band’s bass gear for the recording of ‘Above the Weeping World‘. And former Insomnium guitarist Ville Vänni played as my sidekick in that band as well, so it is like circle completing, for lack of better term!

Being friends for 25 odd years, joining Insomnium feels like coming home! Looking forward to see all of you on the road again!”

  • As Everything Unfolds Premiere “Gasoline” Music Video

As Everything Unfolds have premiered a new video for their new song “Gasoline.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Did You Ask to Be Set Free?,” which will be released on April 10.

    Vocalist Charlie Rolfe commented:

“‘Gasoline’ is a story about that unquantifiable and confusing human bond you get with someone else. That twin flame sensation, that mutual connection with an unknown person, almost like you were destined to be in each other’s lives. During this song, it explores an explosive connection, the thought process, the denial in wanting it and the need to turn away from it, even though it feels wrong, you desperately try to keep hold of your life path, ignoring this fated sensation, how heartbreaking and soul-destroying it can be. This idea tied in so neatly with the concept of Count Dracula and Mina’s relationship from Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula,’ that otherworldly, toxic and destined love. Similar to ‘Set In Flow,’ we used the story to visually inspire the music video, to which shots from the video are homages to moments in the 1994 film.”

“Did You Ask to Be Set Free?” Track Listing:

    01. “Denial”
    02. “Gasoline”
    03. “Point of View”

    10. “Reverie”
    11. “Edge Of Forever”
    12. “Setting Sun”

  • Nailed Shut MA Premiere “Centipede” Music Video

Nailed Shut MA have premiered a new video for their new song “Centipede.” This track is from the band’s new EP, “a promise made, a promise kept,” which will be released on March 5.

The group said the following about the single:

”‘Centipede’ is truly a stand out track on a promise made, a promise kept, as it was definitely our biggest writing challenge on this EP. We wanted a song that combined groove, complexity, atmosphere, and intensity all into something fresh for audiences of our genres. We’ve been debuting this song live on a few prior shows and it’s been cool to watch franticity become still for a moment during the ambient intro as an audience prepares for what’s to come and more disarray awaits.”

They also added the following about the EP:

“This EP has been such a long time coming for us, and we couldn’t feel more fulfilled. With ‘a promise made, a promise kept,’ we really felt as if we’ve begun to lean into a signature sound that can only be described as ‘an eeriness of self-inflicted violence.’ This EP contains intense themes of mental health awareness and personal harm. We’ve truly poured our all into this record as we take from personal experiences of loss and the departure of self-control. Ultimately, a promise made, a promise kept isn’t in any way a pretty listen. But it’s here to drown out the dread that may be eating at you and it’s here to help in any way it can.”

“a promise made, a promise kept” Track Listing:

    01. “A Promise Made” (Instrumental Intro)
    02. “Devoured”
    03. “Broken & Curled”
    04. “Centipede”
    05. “Heaven Below Earth”
    06. “Dust To Dust”
    07. “A Promise Kept” (Instrumental Outro)

  • Massacre Reveal Plans For New Compilation Of Re-Recorded Songs From “From Beyond” And “Inhuman Condition”

Massacre have revealed plans for a new compilation album. The effort will feature re-recorded versions of songs from their 1991 album “From Beyond” and their 1992 EP “Inhuman Condition.”

    Frontman Kam Lee commented:

“I understand that re-recording these songs may make some fans uncomfortable. These tracks come from a specific time in our history, and nothing can ever replace the original recordings. Those versions are sacred, and they will always be there for fans to go back to. This was never about erasing the past or trying to outdo it. It comes from respect — for the songs, for the fans, and for what this music has meant over the years. This release is simply a celebration of those classic tracks, revisited with the experience, passion, and intensity that still drives us today. The originals remain untouched. This exists alongside them, not instead of them. This release is about honoring that legacy — revisiting songs that still mean everything to me and that still burn just as fiercely today. To the fans who have stood by Massacre all these years: this is for you. Take it as it’s intended — not as a replacement, but as a celebration. Thank you for keeping this music alive.”
