Quicksand Premiere New Song “Felíz”

Quicksand have premiered a new song titled “Felíz.” The track was recorded during the sessions for the band’s latest album “Distant Populations“ and Walter Schreifels had the following to say about it:

“This one came together pretty easily, from what I recall coming off of tour we wanted to write something more aggressive for the set; listening now reminds me of something we might have written earlier in our career but still feels right at home with where we’re at currently. The lyrics speak to the fleeting nature of happiness which paradoxically is what makes feeling happy such a desirable thing.”

Shiner Drop Off October Shows With Quicksand

Shiner have dropped off their October shows with Quicksand. Spotlights will now be taking their place.

Shiner commented:

“Hello Shiner faithful:

It pains us to announce we had to bow out of the Quicksand shows scheduled from OCT 18-23. We’re so bummed about missing and were so honored to have been asked, but ultimately it was decided that Allen is needed at home with his family at a particularly crucial time in his wife’s recovery from hip surgery.

We sure do hope we’ll have another opportunity to rock with those sweet dudes and in the meantime, our rock spouses Spotlights will be ripping those gigs in our stead. Who knows, maybe they’ll work up a Shiner cover! (Hint hint Mario…!)

We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this creates on you guys and really really appreciate your understanding.

Huge thank you’s to everyone who came out over the past week to make some memories with us. It was a great tour. Thank you!!”

Tour Dates:

10/18 Columbus, OH – A&R Music Bar
10/19 Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Iron Works
10/22 Garwood, NJ – Crossroads
10/23 Amityville, NY – Amityville Music Hall

Quicksand Recruit Candiria Guitarist John LaMacchia For Upcoming Shows

Quicksand have recruited Candiria’s John LaMacchia to play guitar during their upcoming live shows. He will be filling in for the band’s touring guitarist Stephen Brodsky, who will be busy with Cave In.

LaMacchia commented:

“I am truly delighted to announce that I will be playing guitar for Quicksand for a bunch of tour dates they have coming up starting next week on October the 6th. In Las Vegas, NV.

I have been a fan of Quicksand since their first full length album ‘Slip’ came out in 1993. With this album the band completely changed the game in the underground music scene and have continued to inspire generations of bands to follow including my own.

Their latest album ‘Distant Populations’ was my favorite album that came out in 2021. The songs, the performances, the lyrical content and the production are some of the very best that Quicksand has had to offer since the bands inception. I absolutely love it and I can’t wait to get on the road to support it for this run of dates.

At this time the band is on the road with a great tour package led by the kings of stoner rock, Clutch along with alternative metal legends, Helmet and opening the tour is JD Pinkus (Butthole Surfers).

Slinging guitar for Quicksand up until October 5th is Stephen Brodsky of Cave In, Old Man Gloom and Mutoid Man. Steve has been a friend for many many years and he is a great guitar player and performer so I have some pretty big shoes to fill. I’ll be finishing up the Clutch tour and then also doing all of the remaining headlining dates the band has scheduled with another incredible band, Shiner! This is going to be epic.”

Quicksand Premiere New Song “Giving The Past Away”

Quicksand have premiered a new song titled “Giving The Past Away.” The band said the following about the track:

“The working title for this song was ‘Greatest Quicksand Song Ever‘ so you can imagine it was a very tough call leaving this song off ‘Distant Populations‘. The only reason we could agree on to leave it off was that we wanted to have some really strong material in reserve for later in the year. Ultimately the title came from the most prominent line in the song which is an embrace of the present which is very in line with our thinking with ‘Distant Populations‘, we’re super proud of this one and are very psyched to share it with the world.”
