Whores. & Mastodon’s Bill Kelliher Team Up For Cover Of AC/DC’s “Have A Drink On Me”

Whores. and Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher have released a cover of AC/DC‘s “Have A Drink On Me.” This track is from Magnetic Eye Records‘ “Back In Black“ tribute album, which will be released on December 3 alongside another AC/DC tribute album called “Best Of AC/DC [Redux].” Whores.’s Christian Lembach commented:

“I grew up listening to AC/DC, like everyone else. They were one of the first bands I heard that felt like a real rock and roll band, totally divorced from artifice. I still listen to them regularly, and we start every tour with ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)‘ because it’s true. One of the most important bands in my life. I was a little concerned with the song we covered, because it’s very different from our style. We just asked ourselves, ‘What would Harvey Milk do?’ It was pretty easy after that.”

Whores. Share Cover Of Black Sabbath’s “Cornucopia”

Whores. have released their cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Cornucopia.” This track is from Magnetic Eye Records‘ upcoming tribute to Black Sabbath‘s “Vol. 4.“ That effort is titled “Vol. 4 [Redux]“ and it will be released on October 30 alongside a “Best Of Black Sabbath [Redux]” tribute album.

Whores. frontman Christian Lembach commented:

“It was cool that we got to do ‘Cornucopia‘, because it’s not a typical song to cover. When we were learning the basic structure of the song we found out very quickly why the song is called ‘Cornucopia‘. The song starts in 4/4, switches to 12/8 and back to 4/4, and then the middle section is in 3/4! We smoothed it all out to 4/4 though, because we’re cavemen and proud of it, ha.”

He also added:

“I remember hearing Black Sabbath for the first time in Boy Scouts, believe it or not. I was predictably terrified. It seemed sincerely evil to my boyish ears. At this point in my life I hadn’t even entered my hair metal stage, let alone my thrash, punk and hardcore stage, so the sound of a dark and downtuned band from a working-class factory town in England seemed like it came from another planet.

I’ve obviously grown up since then, and I’ve seen and experienced enough legitimately scary stuff of my own. I’m able to tap into that feeling though, and I do it often. Legends for a reason.”
