Cave In Premiere “Reckoning” Music Video

Cave In have premiered a new video for their new song “Reckoning.” This track is from the band’s new album “Heavy Pendulum,” which will be released on May 20.

Adam McGrath commented:

“‘Reckoning‘ started as a demo I sent to the band for consideration while mapping out the tracklist for ‘Heavy Pendulum‘. It was inspired by the idea of adding a song to the acoustic/electric live sets Steve and I had been performing on and off for the last 20 years. A fresh song with that set-up (acoustic/electric guitar) seemed exciting to pursue. Somewhere between Led Zeppelin’s ‘Battle of Evermore’ and Mad Season’s ‘Long Gone Day’ is the birth of ‘Reckoning,’ a song about digesting huge loss and forging paths into unknown futures.”

Author & Punisher Premieres “Incinerator” Video

Author & Punisher has premiered a new video for his new song “Incinerator.” This track is from his new album “Krüller,“ which was released today (February 11). Tristan Shone said the following about the song and video:

“‘Incinerator‘ is about outrage and urgency. The world is actually on fire. We are dealing with extreme conditions of a warming climate yet face brutal resistance by those who want to deflect our rage towards each other for their profit. Special thanks to Director Ansel Wallenfang and DP James Rexroad who worked tirelessly to translate this rage into a visual adventure/nightmare.”

Author & Punisher Premieres New Song “Blacksmith”

Author & Punisher has premiered a new song titled “Blacksmith.” This track is from his new album “Krüller,“ which will be released on February 11. Tristan Shone said the following about the song:

“‘Blacksmith‘ is a track that I co-wrote with the Krüller producer Jason Begin (Vytear). This one is a bit of an adventure where we go from my slow bending drones and morph into Jason‘s jungle and breaks with the same halftime bassline and vocals tying it together. Lyrically, this is an ode to Black women-led movements who have been fearlessly leading the way against oppression in this country for a long time.”

Author & Punisher Postpones Mainland European Dates, Cancels UK Shows

Author & Punisher has postponed his mainland European shows. With this news, he has also cancelled his UK dates.

Author & Punisher commented:

“Some good news and some bad news. Unfortunately we will have to cancel upcoming February dates in the UK and postpone mainland EU shows until late March/April.

I have decided with the current omicron surge, we need to postpone February’s EU/UK tour to a later time. I wanted nothing more than to share the new album with you right as it is coming out but cases are at an all time high and it’s just too much of a risk to be traveling overseas at the moment. Trust me, when this settles I’ll be out there. I apologize to everyone who helped book and organize and to fans who planned to attend.

Below are the new European March/April dates. I’m amped to have Mvtant (industrial/ebm from Austin, TX) along as direct support.”

Author & Punisher Premieres New Song “Maiden Star”

Author & Punisher has premiered a new song titled “Maiden Star.” This track is from his new album “Krüller,“ which will be released on February 11. Author & Punisher commented:

“‘Maiden Star‘ continues the trudge of escape and survival from ‘Drone Carrying Dread‘, but with a focus on the vital interpersonal conflicts and triumphs that exist in times of war and peace. This track, my personal favorite from the balance of the heavy and the melodic, is deeply personal and painful at the same time. The first note both lifts me up and beats the shit out of me.”

Tool Members To Guest On New Author & Punisher Album “Krüller”

Tool’s Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor will be guesting on Author & Punisher’s new album “Krüller.” That effort will be released on February 11 and the cover art and track listing for it can be found below:

“Krüller” Track Listing:

01. “Drone Carrying Dread”
02. “Incinerator”
03. “Centurion”
04. “Maiden Star”
05. “Misery”
06. “Glorybox” (Portishead cover)
07. “Blacksmith”
08. “Krüller”

With this news, Author & Punisher has also shared an official video for “Drone Carrying Dread” from the record. He had the following to say about that:

“‘Drone Carrying Dread‘ was the first song I wrote on ‘Krüller‘. I had just gotten home from the final tour of the ‘Beastland‘ album cycle and I spent a couple weeks updating my overall tones with a nice balance of sub, saw/synth and tube amp. This track was basically the one where it all clicked and I had these chords that resonated just right, shaking the entire warehouse. It’s a simple but raw progression that was ripe for the addition of synthesizer programming from co-producer Jason Begin [Vytear]. Lyrically, it’s about escape and survival, as the events that were unfolding in 2020 were prophesied by the books I was reading throughout the year.”

He also added the following about the album:

“Melody has been and is still a part of my sound. I’ve always bathed them in a lot of reverb, delay, and distortion, though. This time around, I was bothered by the wall of distortion I had created. I wanted a little more clarity. I wanted to refine the sound.

I wanted to step back from my own show and analyze it a bit. I had all these competing distortions that I wanted to streamline. I like contrast and wanted the vocals to be immediately noticeable. There’s something about mixing punishing drones and rumble with a mellow thing on top that I really like on ‘Krüller‘.”
