Trivium Premiere “The Phalanx” Music Video

Trivium have premiered a new video for their new song “The Phalanx.” The clip was created in collaboration with “Elder Scrolls Online” and it debuted during the #GatesOfOblivion Year-End Stream on Bethesda Games’ Twitch channel. The track is from Trivium’s new album “In The Court Of The Dragon,” which will be released on October 8.

Paolo Gregoletto commented:

“‘The Phalanx‘ was like an old muscle car sitting in the driveway with no engine. It was a demo from ‘Shogun‘ that had the middle section removed for another song (‘Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis‘), demoed again on ‘Silence In The Snow‘ but ultimately scrapped, and now it has found its home on the new album.

Once we knew the album was going in a more epic, proggy direction, I immediately thought of the song and pitched the idea to the others. With a few minor changes to some chorus parts, a brand middle section, and the orchestrations from Ihsahn, ‘The Phalanx‘ was reborn. It’s got a lot of new and old riffs and I think you should dig this if you liked ‘Shogun‘.”

Trivium Premiere “Feast Of Fire” Video

Trivium have premiered a new video for their new song “Feast Of Fire.” This track is from their new album “In The Court Of The Dragon,” which will be released on October 8.

Paolo Gregoletto commented:

“There’s always that one song you aren’t expecting when you begin writing a new album. It could be a riff written on the spot in the rehearsal space, a lyric that pairs just right with a melody, or in the case of ‘Feast Of Fire,’ sitting right there in front of us in the middle of a demo that Corey brought in. We were well into pre-production at Full Sail when we all decided that something about the demo we had tracked was good but could be even better. Our producer Josh Wilbur even had in his notes: ‘Bridge is special, maybe so special it needs its own song.’ We tore the song apart and began again on the spot.”

“We went into this album knowing we had time to consider everything and anything that came about during this period, and if need be, we could start again if it didn’t feel right given that no touring was on the horizon.”

“I had the words ‘Feast Of Fire’ written in my running list of notes for lyric ideas that I try to amass before we record. Something about the phrase stuck out to me. It felt like the missing piece of the story we were trying to tell with this album, a climactic moment and a real centerpiece for the narrative.”

“After all these years, I’m still blown away at how a song can really appear out of thin air and take the album to a place you weren’t expecting. Those are the moments we are always looking for when making a record.”

The cover art and track listing for “In The Court Of The Dragon” can be found below. Matt Heafy said the following about the artwork:

“While the music of In The Court Of The Dragon was taking shape, we knew we needed epic artwork of the type that you might see on the wall of an important museum from a long dead renaissance master. After extensive research, we found one of the few living artists who is capable of creating artwork like Caravaggio and Gentileschi — painter Mathieu Nozieres. Mathieu took our song title and created an original oil painting on canvas unlike anything we could have ever imagined. It’s so staggeringly breathtaking and epic and it looks like what the song and album sounds like.”

Trivium’s Matt Heafy Opens Up About His Family’s Battle With COVID-19: “We Need To Look At ‘Getting COVID’ As A Vaccinated Person – The Same We Look At Catching A Cold, Catching The Flu”

As previously reported, Trivium’s Matt Heafy and members of his family recently tested positive for COVID-19. The frontman and his wife had already been fully vaccinated, but some breakthrough cases can still occur considering the vaccines are not 100% effective at stopping infection. Despite this, the shots are still extraordinarily effective at preventing death and severe illness. With this in mind, Heafy has taken to social media to further open up about his battle with the disease and the advantages of being vaccinated.

Heafy said the following:

“Comments are off where possible, and will not be read where they can’t be turned off. Simply because – I know where this will unfortunately likely go with 33.3% of the people who will see this. I’m seeing a lot of panic (in media and social media and society) on “people still getting Covid despite being vaccinated.”

Think of my family as a mini case study.

My dad and I have the same genetics- we’re the same family. He is a marine as well. So tough as nails. My dad was 1/2 shots in (purely due to not being able to get the second in time) when he contracted COVID. 2 hospitalizations, almost dying, and now 15/16 weeks out – still has potential liver / heart / lung damage. He still feels lung tightness 17/18 weeks out.

I was 2/2 shots in when my wife (2/2 shots in) contracted Covid (likely delta variant) from a non-vaccinated person. It went from non vax person to vax person, to our kids (non vaccinated due to being 2.5 years old), to a vaccinated person (me). While it was an annoying “cold-like-sickness” I still was able to do Muay Thai on a heavy bag, do my mace workouts, do yoga, sing/scream on stream and perform.

It was 4-5 annoying days, 1 slightly worse day (still streamed, still performed), then I was 80% for a couple days, then 100%. Same with my wife. Thankfully same with my kids (Mia had a fever at 103/104, Akira got to 102/103; both were good in 5ish days).

We need to look at “getting Covid” as a vaccinated person – the same we look at catching a cold, catching the flu. The vaccines % of efficacy was % of you not being hospitalized. Just like the flu shot (at its 40-50% efficacy of that).

I want tours back, I wanna eat at restaurants and share food with my hands, and take bites of my friends food, share drinks with friends, train jiu jitsu and freely have my partner’s sweat drop into my mouth/ nose/ eyes and not care.

Anyone who says this is a political thing – is wrong and is likely scared. I had the vaccine, I have not fallen in my output in anything I do. I’m still training, making music, and ready as hell to get back to playing shows, getting in the crowd, hugging all of you, and eating everywhere.

If you see someone choosing to wear a mask – remember there are far many more health issues than just what’s happening right now. I have many high risk family and friends who cannot risk even getting this weakened (vaccinated) Covid. It could kill them or a loved one. Respect one another. Don’t make this about something it isn’t.

Let’s get back to having shows! Can’t wait to see you all on the upcoming megadeth, lamb of god, hatebreed run!”

Trivium Premiere “In The Court Of The Dragon” Music Video

Trivium have released a new song titled “In The Court Of The Dragon.” The track features an intro composed by Emperor’s Ihsahn and an official video for it can be found below:

Paolo Gregoletto commented:

“We started putting together the riffs for what would become ‘In the Court Of The Dragon‘ last year with no touring on the horizon. We decided to use the uncertainty to our advantage and to create without any of the limitations and commitments that would normally be eating away at our time in the jam room.”

“The title of the song came from a short story by Robert W. Chambers. The story is filled with dread and uncertainty, and that felt fitting for the times we’ve all been living in for the last year. Rather than a direct re-telling, we decided to go a different route and build our own narrative around the music that we were creating.”

“Similar to some of our past songs and albums, this song began with lyrics rooted in mythology. But unlike the past, we decided to create our own myth to fit the music. Being free to create the story and write the music without a deadline, due to a once-in-a-lifetime event, really led to one of the most rewarding writing and recording experiences we have ever had. We hope it lives up to your expectations.”

Matt Heafy added:

“While the music of ‘In the Court Of The Dragon‘ was taking shape, we knew we needed epic artwork of the type that you might see on the wall of an important museum from a long-dead renaissance master.”

Despite this, the shots are still extraordinarily effective at preventing death and severe illness. Heafy said the following:

“Welp. Went from a non-vaccinated person to Ashley (vaccinated) to the kids (unvaccinated) to me (vaccinated). Thankfully due to being vaccinated it merely feels like a tour cold; my dad however got sick without a vaccine and is now 12 weeks into a very terrible recovery with lung/ heart/ liver issues. I outta be good in a day or two. See y’all on stream tomorrow regardless!”
