Trivium’s Matt Heafy Says He Had COVID-19 Twice

During a recent interview with Rock 102.1 KFMA, Trivium’s Matt Heafy revealed that he ended up contracting COVID-19 again this year. This news comes after the frontman previously had a breakthrough infection last summer.

Heafy said the following while discussing his Twitch schedule:

“The main consistency is five days a week when I’m off tour, two times a day — 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. — is when I do my streams on my channel. And the majority of it — 75 to 90 percent of the time — is me playing TRIVIUM songs by request to TRIVIUM supporters. It’s me staying in shape.”

“I never take time off vocally ever; I never take time off. I had COVID last year [and] I had COVID again this year — I still didn’t stop singing and screaming and streaming to make sure that if I get the flu on tour, if I get food poisoning on tour, I’m gonna make sure I don’t have to cancel shows. So I’ll need to train through every single element.”

“When my kids were newborns, I was not getting sleep, still making sure I’m here, providing entertainment, providing community, providing all that stuff, and still keeping myself in shape year round — more like an athlete than a musician, is the way I treat it.”

Members of each band commented:

Megadeth‘s Dave Mustaine:

“‘The Metal Tour of The Year‘ is exactly what it sounds like – a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world – live and loud. Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one’s going be even better. Do not miss out.”

Lamb Of God‘s Randy Blythe:

“It was great to get out on the road for an incredible tour last summer with Megadeth, Trivium and Hatebreed so we figured we’d do it again! We look forward to hitting new cities with Megadeth, Trivium and In Flames, who we’re happy to have over for leg 2!”

Trivium‘s Matt Heafy:

“‘The Metal Tour Of The Year‘ was one of the strongest, most incredible Metal tours in ages – it’s namesake nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again – even bigger, even better, and have it play everywhere it didn’t on the first leg. MTOTYII – let’s do this.”

In Flames‘s Anders Fridén:

“We are excited to finally be able to join our dear friends in Megadeth, Lamb of God, and Trivium on this year’s, ‘Metal Tour of The Year‘! We can’t wait to be back on the road in America and to reunite with you all. Don’t miss this tour it’s a juggernaut.”

This tour will be part of Live Nation’s Live Stubs initiative, so fans that attend will be able to get NFT ticket stubs.

Trivium Announce “In Waves” & “Deadmen And Dragons” Livestream Shows

Trivium have announced two virtual concerts at their new headquarters, The Hanger. The first one will stream on December 11 and it will find the band performing their 2011 album “In Waves” in full. The second one will stream on December 18 and it will find the group performing songs from their latest albums “In The Court Of The Dragon” and “What The Dead Men Say.“ Fit For An Autopsy will open.

Frontman Matt Heafy commented:

“‘In Waves’ is hailed as one of the greatest Trivium albums of all time. While Trivium has the greatest supporters on earth, The Shogunate is also incredibly passionate on their decision of the best classic record. The fanbase always seems to be resoundingly split on three albums when it comes to speaking of ‘the best’: ‘Ascendancy,’ ‘Shogun,’ and ‘In Waves.’

‘In Waves’ is an album where Trivium embarked on a journey to a new world of sounds, textures, feelings, and visuals. ‘In Waves’ was the moment where Trivium finally, truly realized everything of its visuals. The ‘In Waves’ album changed the course of history for Trivium, and its influence and impact is vastly apparent in the current modern metal scene.”

Bassist Paolo Gregoletto added:

“‘Deadmen & Dragons’ is the celebration of the last two years — two albums, The Hangar, the ‘Metal Tour of the Year,’ and of course ‘A Light Or A Distant Mirror.’ The moment we knew that touring was off the table in 2020, we shifted focus back to the creative process. This stream is the closing of this unexpected chapter of Trivium and the beginning of a new one full of many exciting possibilities with The Hangar.”
