Guitarist Cameron Maynard commented:

“When we initially conceived this project, our objective was to give something to our fans amidst the inability to physically perform to a live audience. As it turns out, we were so happy with the end result that we thought it would only be appropriate to release in a more tangible way.

We have always wanted to release a box set like this, and after seeing some original ideas for the art, we knew it had to be done.”

Keyboardist Eric Guenther added:

“Although the motivation for this project was born out of uncertainty and cancellations, the opportunity to perform and create the definitive musical artifact for this band’s history became a silver lining.

To me, this is years of work finally realized, and thanks to our fans’ response, we were able to make this project timeless with a proper release. This is the best representation of The Contortionist to date, and to us, the recording that defines the identity of this band and how we sounded in the first 10+ years.

Thanks to our fans for making this band real. Also, we can’t wait to share what we have been working on.”

The Contortionist Announce “Exoplanet” 10th Anniversary Livestream Show

The Contortionist will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of “Exoplanet” with a livestream concert on June 26. Tickets can be found HERE. Cameron Maynard commented:

“It is beyond exciting to announce the latest livestream concert because it goes back to our old catalog, including songs we haven’t ever played. Rehearsing has proven arduous on the hands and brain, but we have been waiting years for this chance to ‘throw it back’ to the early days of the band. The nostalgia of hearing, celebrating, and representing this music again, a decade later, is it’s own challenge for us, but it is even more cathartic for the band to attack this music with a fresh fervor and perspective on the record that launched The Contortionist.”

“We’re very excited to release a video for our cover of The Smashing Pumpkins‘ timeless song ‘1979‘. It’s a song that we all grew up with and hold dear to our hearts. It felt only fitting to use footage from the growing years of the band for this one.”

The Contortionist To Release New EP “Our Bones” In August, Premiere “Early Grave” Music Video

The Contortionist have announced that they will be releasing a new EP titled “Our Bones“ on August 9. The effort will come with four tracks including: “Follow,” “Early Grave,” “All Grey,” and a cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979.” You can find an official video for “Early Grave” below. Michael Lessard said the following about the EP:

“We try to do something different with everything we create. With our albums, we tend to work with overarching interconnected themes. ‘Our Bones‘ is a departure. It offered an opportunity to dive into some things we haven’t had a chance to explore, and the shorter EP format allowed us to be hyper-focused on each song.”
