Spotlights To Release New Album “Alchemy For The Dead” In April, Premiere New Song “Algorithmic”

Spotlights have revealed the details for their new album “Alchemy For The Dead.” The record will be released on April 28 and it can be pre-ordered HERE.

“Alchemy For The Dead” Track Listing:

01. “Beyond The Broken Sky”
02. “The Alchemist”
03. “Sunset Burial”
04. “Algorithmic”
05. “False Gods”
06. “Repeat The Silence”
07. “Ballad In The Mirror”
08. “Crawling Toward The Light”
09. “Alchemy For The Dead”

Mario Quintero said the following about the album:

“Our focus when making this record was to not repeat ourselves. I think we achieved our goal. Though we’re proud of all our releases, making just another ‘Spotlights‘ album wasn’t an option. Pushing our own boundaries while creating something cathartic, yet strangely suffocating, with new sounds and textures as well as more personal and self-reflective themes, this album feels like a new fork in the path for us. Hopefully the listeners will follow.”

A lyric video for the effort’s first single, “Algorithmic,” can be found below. Quintero added the following about that track:

“For me, the song has a religious theme to it. It touches on the story of resurrection and afterlife in this one narrative, while wondering, does any of it really matter?”

“‘The Geek Show‘ tours of the past were some of the best live show experiences I’ve ever had. Hanging out with friends that are also some of my favorite musicians is a great way to spend a couple weeks. This iteration is a mindblower. You will want to be the first one there and the last to leave this party! The mighty Melvins and Spotlights will prove to be a challenge for Mr. Bungle to follow. I only wish we could take this package around the globe.”

Shiner Drop Off October Shows With Quicksand

Shiner have dropped off their October shows with Quicksand. Spotlights will now be taking their place.

Shiner commented:

“Hello Shiner faithful:

It pains us to announce we had to bow out of the Quicksand shows scheduled from OCT 18-23. We’re so bummed about missing and were so honored to have been asked, but ultimately it was decided that Allen is needed at home with his family at a particularly crucial time in his wife’s recovery from hip surgery.

We sure do hope we’ll have another opportunity to rock with those sweet dudes and in the meantime, our rock spouses Spotlights will be ripping those gigs in our stead. Who knows, maybe they’ll work up a Shiner cover! (Hint hint Mario…!)

We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this creates on you guys and really really appreciate your understanding.

Huge thank you’s to everyone who came out over the past week to make some memories with us. It was a great tour. Thank you!!”
