Alpha Wolf & Holding Absence Premiere “60cm Of Steel” Music Video

Alpha Wolf and Holding Absence have premiered a new video for their new song “60cm Of Steel.” This track is from their new collaborative EP “The Lost & The Longing,” which was officially released today (August 15).

Alpha Wolf‘s Sabian Lynch commented:

“When writing during lockdown, we wrote the instrumental for 60cm and didn’t quite know where it’d sit for us, we loved it but didn’t know how to move forward with it. That wasn’t until we had the idea of the Split EP with Holding Absence and knew this would be incredible with Lucas’ voice helping us out. This collaboration made this song one of our most powerful yet and teaming up with Holding Absence helped us convey everything we wanted when building this track.

We teamed up with Third Eye Visuals yet again for the visuals but this time approached the video with a more cinematic look rather than what we’re known for when teaming up, we love to throw curve balls occasionally.

Ben (Third Eye Visuals) really took the lyrics on board when piecing together the ideas for this music video and we love how it came together, he managed to portray our idea of the extent that artists go for their art perfectly, because often in todays world it feels as though you need to really invoke some inner demons just to create what is to be deemed as ‘successful art’.”

Holding Absence Premiere “Coffin” Music Video

Holding Absence have premiered a new video for their new song “Coffin.” This track is from the band’s new split EP with Alpha Wolf. That effort is titled “The Lost & The Longing” and it will be available on August 15. Vocalist Lucas Woodland commented:

“We’re ecstatic to release ‘Coffin‘ today! This song is very much about finding hope in unexpected places, and feels like a real special step forwards for our band. We had the chance to experiment with pianos and ambience more than ever before, but still without compromising the Holding Absence sound. Super hyped for people to hear this one!”

Alpha Wolf & Holding Absence To Release New Split EP “The Lost & The Longing” In August

Alpha Wolf and Holding Absence have announced a new split EP called “The Lost & The Longing.” The effort will be released on August 15 and its first single, “Aching Longing,” can be found below:

“The Lost & The Longing” Track Listing:

01. Alpha Wolf – “60cm Of Steel” (feat. Holding Absence)
02. Alpha Wolf – “Hotel Underground”
03. Holding Absence – “Aching Longing” (feat. Alpha Wolf)
04. Holding Absence – “Coffin”

Holding Absence’s Lucas Woodland commented:

“We’re ecstatic to be announcing ‘The Lost & The Longing‘, our split EP with Alpha Wolf! They are a band we’ve loved as people and musicians for years now, and we’re so grateful they wanted to drop this release with us. We can’t wait for people to hear our two new singles ‘Aching Longing‘ and ‘Coffin,’ too! ‘Aching Longing‘ is our band at its heaviest yet, and ‘Coffin‘ is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. We are always trying to stretch our band into new shapes, and can’t wait for people to hear what we’ve produced with these two tracks!”

Alpha Wolf’s Sabian Lunch added:

“We first met Holding Absence back in 2019 at the Impericon fests in Europe and we got along like a house on fire. We really enjoy their super catchy tunes and luckily enough they enjoy our heavy tunes. We talked a bunch over social media and kept up to date with what they were doing and when Lucas (jokingly) mentioned that we should do a split, it surprisingly just seemed like the best idea ever. We both released albums around the same time and it made sense, timing-wise, for us both to release new music at the same time. Working with them has been a breeze and we’d do it again in a heartbeat.”

Holding Absence Premiere “nomoreroses” Video

Holding Absence have premiered a new video for their new song “nomoreroses.” This track is from the band’s new album “The Greatest Mistake Of My Life,” which will be released on April 16. Lucas Woodland commented:

“We’re super excited to release ‘nomoreroses‘ on the homestretch before TGMOML comes out next week! The song is definitely a heavier and more progressive track than people have heard from us in a while, which is perfect as it represents just how varied the record is. nomoreroses is lyrically a song about a sour relationship with god, looking at how hard it can be to believe in a god that seemingly doesn’t believe in you.”

Holding Absence Premiere “In Circles” Video

Holding Absence have premiered a new video for their new song “In Circles.” This track is from the band’s new album “The Greatest Mistake Of My Life,” which will be released on April 16. Lucas Woodland commented:

“‘In Circles‘ is a really subtly exciting song for our band. Lyrically, it commentates on the mundane and cyclical nature of day to day life… Pointing out just how dangerous it can be to live your life without ambition. With such a strong lyrical vision, we made sure that the song and video followed suit, playing out in an almost hypnotic fashion. We think this track is really special, and will hopefully be enough to encourage people to reach out of their lives a little bit.”

Holding Absence Premiere “Afterlife” Video

Holding Absence have premiered a new video for their new song “Afterlife.” This track is from the band’s new album “The Greatest Mistake Of My Life,” which will be released on April 16. Lucas Woodland commented:

“We truly believe this song to be one of our best yet, with its pounding chorus and emotive vocals. Just listening to this song is making us itch for the return of live music so we can get out and play it to you all! With this song released, we’re one step closer to releasing our sophomore album ‘The Greatest Mistake Of My Life‘ and we can’t wait for you guys to hear it!”

Holding Absence Premiere “Beyond Belief” Video

Holding Absence have premiered a new video for their new song “Beyond Belief.” This track is from the band’s new album “The Greatest Mistake Of My Life,” which will be released on April 16.

The group said the following about the song:

“We are ecstatic to finally unveil ‘Beyond Belief‘ to the world! Just as jumping from black and white into colour is a huge change for our band, we believe the transition into ‘Beyond Belief‘, and subsequently ‘The Greatest Mistake Of My Life‘, is similarly significant.

‘Beyond Belief‘ sees our band embracing the 80’s indie-shoegaze era with both arms, while still gripping firmly onto all the sounds that have made us who we are up until now. A song about love, and the fear of permanence – this really is Holding Absence, like you’ve never heard us before.”

They also added the following about the album:

“This album is about telling stories that are presented through the lens of hindsight, regret and looking back. There are songs that celebrate life when faced with death, and others that speak to the choices we make about how we live our lives. The fear of love, newfound respect for life and the covering up of depression are all subjects that rear their head.

‘The Greatest Mistake Of My Life‘ exercises emotion in many ways, and that was an important thing for us to do, because emotion isn’t rigid – it’s not just love or joy or sadness – it’s a lot of things.”

Holding Absence Premiere “Birdcage” Lyric Video

Holding Absence have premiered a lyric video for their new song “Birdcage.“ This track and the band’s recent single “Gravity” were released as a limited edition 7″ picture disc today (April 17). Lucas Woodland commented:

“‘Birdcage‘ is probably the most poppy track we’ve ever released as HA, and we’re really proud of the outcome. Working with Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon/Twin Atlantic/Don Broco) gave us the great opportunity to refine our sound in a way we’d not yet tried before, so the aim for this track was to make it as catchy and sleek as possible. We’re very happy with the outcome and can’t wait for people to get their hands on the double-sided picture disk!”
