Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal Working On New Solo Instrumental Album

Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses, etc.) has revealed that he is working on a new solo album. The effort will serve as the guitarist’s first “full instrumental album since 1995.”

Bumblefoot told Igor Miranda the following:

“I haven’t done a full instrumental album since 1995, so it’s pretty overdue. And I’ve been working on that slowly while doing everything else and collaborating with people and doing all kinds of other things.”

He also added:

“I tend to put myself last. If I have a load of work to do, rarely will I say, ‘Nope. Can’t do that. I’ve gotta work on my own thing.’ I’m trying to do that more, because my own album is never gonna get done, because I’m always putting my own things aside and saying, ‘Oh, yeah, let me help you with that. Let me do this with you.’ So I’m trying to put myself into that equation as well and say, ‘Oh, let me do something for me,’ and not forget about me and my own music. So I’m working on that. I’m slowly getting there. Hopefully next year I’ll have an album to release of my own music, I’m hoping.”

Bumblefoot (Sons Of Apollo, Etc.) Releases New Solo Track “Planetary Lockdown”

Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Sons Of Apollo, ex-Guns N’ Roses, etc.) has released a new song titled “Planetary Lockdown.” The guitarist commented:

“It was early March 2020, on tour with Sons Of Apollo in Europe, as the COVID-19 coronavirus numbers were quickly escalating. We made it through 4 shows of our 20-show European tour before we had to pull the plug, leave half our gear in storage and urgently head for home. It was a race to get back as the door was slamming shut behind us. Europe was shut down. And within days, the world. This song was inspired by that feeling of urgency, that race… completed while in self-isolation, the song was fittingly titled ‘Planetary Lockdown’. This too shall pass. Wishing you all to be safe and healthy.🙏 No guitar parts were sped up or unnaturally edited – solos were played in real-time, using a Line 6 Helix pitch-delay effect.”
