The title track, which is a cover of a traditional African American folk song, will be released on June 19 via Bandcamp. 03. “Heart Of The Devil” (Danzig cover)
04. “Alabama Highway” (Steve Young cover)

Elis said the following about the title track:

“‘All The Pretty Little Horses’ was the first song I recorded for this EP. It’s a track that’s been covered by several artists I admire such as Nick Cave, Current 93, Laura Veirs, Joan Baez and Coil. It’s always been one of my favorite folk songs, but it was important for me to make it my own.”

He also added the following about the other songs:

“I’m a huge fan of these artists and cover songs in general. My goal wasn’t only to rerecord the songs in my style, but also to represent them in an original way. I initially reworked them acoustically and played around with different arrangements to find the right vibe.”

Black Stone Cherry Premiere Video For Their Cover Of Robert Johnson’s “Me And The Devil Blues”, Reveal Details For “Black To Blues Volume 2”

Black Stone Cherry have premiered a new video for their cover of Robert Johnson’s “Me And The Devil Blues.” This track is from the band’s new EP “Black To Blues Volume 2,” which will be released on October 18.

The group commented:

“We chose this song because we have such an appreciation for Robert Johnson and his music. It was so simple, direct, and eerie in a way that just resonates with the listener. Since Robert’s music was guitar and vocal, we decided to totally write new music and lay his words on top of it. All of the music was written literally on the spot while recording in the studio! We are very proud of how this track came out!”

“Black To Blues Volume 2” Track Listing:

01. “Big Legged Woman” (Freddie King cover)
02. “Me And The Devil Blues” (Robert Johnson cover)
03. “All Your Love (I Miss Loving)” (Otis Rush cover)
04. “Down In The Bottom” (Howlin’ Wolf cover)
05. “Early One Morning” (Elmore James cover)
06. “Death Letter Blues” (Son House cover)

Chris Chris Robertson said the following about the EP:

“We could have never dreamed of the reaction we got from ‘Black To Blues’. It was amazing to have such a positive reaction to our take on some of our biggest influences in music. Now we are back for round two and we have added our great friend Yates Mckendree on organ/keys and he also makes an appearance on guitar! We kept a couple artists in the lineup from last time and introduced a few others into the mix as well! We can’t wait for everyone to hear and feel how much fun we had recording this project!”

Ben Wells continued:

“Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Howlin’ Wolf, and the like, we used to listen to that constantly growing up, and still do. It’s what we grew up playing and learning together. It’s the DNA of what our band is. It’s not just us covering songs. It’s about doing our own version of each song.”

“[King and Wolf] are some of our absolute favourites. We always identify with those guys ‘cause they had grooves and riffs like we would put in our tunes. So, we are naturally drawn to that.”

He also added the following about the reaction from fans:

“It’s incredible!! The coolest part is hearing young fans say they never listened to these artists until we made them aware of them. That’s amazing for us!”

Eric Morgan suggested The Cure‘s ‘Prayers For Rain‘ and Johnny Kelly suggested Three Dog Night‘s ‘One‘ I thought they were great choices, a nice contrast of style and we nailed it in the recording process.”
