Black Stone Cherry Premiere Video For Their Cover Of Robert Johnson’s “Me And The Devil Blues”, Reveal Details For “Black To Blues Volume 2”

Black Stone Cherry have premiered a new video for their cover of Robert Johnson’s “Me And The Devil Blues.” This track is from the band’s new EP “Black To Blues Volume 2,” which will be released on October 18.

The group commented:

“We chose this song because we have such an appreciation for Robert Johnson and his music. It was so simple, direct, and eerie in a way that just resonates with the listener. Since Robert’s music was guitar and vocal, we decided to totally write new music and lay his words on top of it. All of the music was written literally on the spot while recording in the studio! We are very proud of how this track came out!”

“Black To Blues Volume 2” Track Listing:

01. “Big Legged Woman” (Freddie King cover)
02. “Me And The Devil Blues” (Robert Johnson cover)
03. “All Your Love (I Miss Loving)” (Otis Rush cover)
04. “Down In The Bottom” (Howlin’ Wolf cover)
05. “Early One Morning” (Elmore James cover)
06. “Death Letter Blues” (Son House cover)

Chris Chris Robertson said the following about the EP:

“We could have never dreamed of the reaction we got from ‘Black To Blues’. It was amazing to have such a positive reaction to our take on some of our biggest influences in music. Now we are back for round two and we have added our great friend Yates Mckendree on organ/keys and he also makes an appearance on guitar! We kept a couple artists in the lineup from last time and introduced a few others into the mix as well! We can’t wait for everyone to hear and feel how much fun we had recording this project!”

Ben Wells continued:

“Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Howlin’ Wolf, and the like, we used to listen to that constantly growing up, and still do. It’s what we grew up playing and learning together. It’s the DNA of what our band is. It’s not just us covering songs. It’s about doing our own version of each song.”

“[King and Wolf] are some of our absolute favourites. We always identify with those guys ‘cause they had grooves and riffs like we would put in our tunes. So, we are naturally drawn to that.”

He also added the following about the reaction from fans:

“It’s incredible!! The coolest part is hearing young fans say they never listened to these artists until we made them aware of them. That’s amazing for us!”

A Pale Horse Named Death Cover Three Dog Night & The Cure For New 7″

“It was a band decision when we were on tour in Europe and we met up with our awesome label and they suggested a 7” release. Eric Morgan suggested The Cure‘s ‘Prayers For Rain‘ and Johnny Kelly suggested Three Dog Night‘s ‘One‘ I thought they were great choices, a nice contrast of style and we nailed it in the recording process.”

New Years Day Cover Pantera, Linkin Park, Etc. On New EP “Diary Of A Creep”

New Years Day will be releasing a new EP titled “Diary Of A Creep” on January 26, via Red Music/Century Media. The effort will come with one new song titled “Disgust Me,“ as well as the following covers: Garbage‘s “I’m Only Happy When It Rains” feat. Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Linkin Park‘s “Crawling,“ Pantera‘s “Fucking Hostile,“ No Doubt‘s “Don’t Speak,” and New Order‘s “Bizarre Love Triangle“.

Ash Costello commented:

“I want to start by saying, it was incredibly difficult to narrow this down to the 5 songs I wanted to cover the most. Narrowing it down to 20 songs was hard! Let alone just 5. It felt very important to me to not only pay tribute to the artists that shaped who I am today, but to share it with all of you.

It’s easy to dismiss where an artist has come from if you have no clue who they worshipped when they were just kids in school, dreaming of being a real musician someday. Honestly, everyday, I cant believe how far I’ve come and how absolutely happy I am that I get to share my music with whoever wants to listen, and these are just a few of the songs that helped me and shaped me along the way.

When I was just a middle schooler, trying to get thru those horrible teenage years, I wish I had known then, that someday I would become one of the heroes I looked up to, and it would be all thanks to YOU. I am grateful to you for listening and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.”

The band are also working on a new album, which is tentatively set to be released in the fall, and have a tour planned with In This Moment, P.O.D. and Ded.
