Frontman Benji Webbe commented:

“Star date 22.3.23: With this song we’re boldly going where no ragga-metal has gone before. We come in peace, L.O.V.E and unity, to bring Skindred’s outergalactic sound-system to the infinite expanse of the cosmos.”

Drummer Arya Gogging added:

“The idea with the ‘Set Fazers’ video was to make a Sci Fi meets Dancehall epic! Through TikTok we met an amazing dancer called Shin (whose dance to our song ‘Nobody’ went viral earlier this year) and he’s added his unique style to the video too. We had so much fun filming it and can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Skindred Premiere “Gimmie That Boom” Music Video

Skindred have premiered a new video for their new song “Gimmie That Boom.” This track is from the band’s new album “Smile,” which will be released on August 4. Frontman Benji Webbe commented:

“I was out shopping one day and I could hear someone building up asking me for a picture. The person didn’t care who I was with or what I was doing — they just wanted their picture. In this day and age, people want you and they expect to get you on tap, constantly giving you that ‘boom’ so they can get their Instagram likes up. It’s important to remember that people can’t give you that ‘boom’ all the time. People think because they follow you on social media, they own you.”

“Smile” Track Listing:

01. “Our Religion”
02. “GIMME THAT BOOM”
03. “Set Fazers”
04. “Life That’s Free”
05. “If I Could”
06. “L.O.V.E. (Smile Please)”
07. “This Appointed Love”
08. “Black Stars”
09. “State Of The Union”
10. “Addicted”

Skindred Premiere “Struggle” Lyric Video

Skindred have premiered a lyric video for a previously unreleased track titled “Struggle.“ That song will be available as a bonus track on the upcoming reissue of “Roots Rock Riot,“ which will be available on April 23. Drummer Arya Goggin commented:

“The song ‘Struggle‘, to me at least conveys a message of hope when your in the battle for love. We have all been there and sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. ‘Struggle‘ is about keeping on with the fight as it will be worth it in the end. Life is sometimes a struggle and this year it has really highlighted that. To me it’s as important today as it was when we wrote it over 15 years ago. I’m so pleased it’s getting the chance to be heard and hopefully people will draw a positive message from it.”

Skindred Sign Worldwide Deal With Earache Records

Skindred have officially signed a new worldwide deal with Earache Records. As part of an effort to raise awareness for struggling UK venues amid the coronavirus pandemic, members of the band signed their contracts in various locations, including Benji Webbe, who was at Le Pub in Newport, Dan Pugsley, who was at The Louisiana in Bristol, Arya Goggin, who was at The Black Heart in London, and Mikey Fry, who was at Green Door Store in Brighton.

Goggin commented:

“We are so excited to announce that we are signing a worldwide deal with Earache Records. I have been a fan of the label since I started listening to heavy music. Their independent attitude and willingness to push the boundaries are something we can identify with in Skindred. It was great to ink the deal at The Black Heart in Camden and shine a light on all the struggling independent music venues too. The Music Venue Trust is something that we feel passionately about and we want these venues to thrive and be part of the future of British Music as well as being part of its history.”

Earache Records founder Digby Pearson added:

“We could not be more thrilled to be signing Skindred. They are such a truly unique and much-loved band. We have all been huge fans of them since Day 1 and have followed Benji’s career since the very beginning so to have Skindred sign to Earache is something that we are all extremely excited by. We are delighted to welcome Benji back to the Earache family along with his bandmates Arya, Mikey and Dan and look forward to working with them for many albums to come.”

Skindred Premiere “It’s A Crime” Lyric Video

Skindred have premiered a lyric video for their song “It’s A Crime.“ That track was previously released as part of the Japanese edition of “Roots Rock Riot“ and it will also be featured on the upcoming reissue of the album. The re-release will be available on April 23 and it will also come with another bonus track titled “Struggle.“

Benji Webbe commented:

“I live in a neighbourhood (Newport, Wales) where back in the day, a lot of people were working hard and getting ripped off in life and then theres other ones that who are just hustling and selling this and selling that and it’s just a crime that hardworking people don’t get what the thieves/criminals get.”

Arya Goggin added:

“‘It’s A Crime‘ was written in 2006 in our basement studio below St Joseph’s Boxing club in Newport. It’s where all the writing for RRR took place. The only reason it didn’t make the album was because of how the album track listing flowed. We were so happy with how the album progressed from the opening of chaos of ‘Roots Rock Riot‘ to the epic ending of ‘Choices and Decisions‘ we didn’t want to crowbar another song in needlessly. It was a hard decision to leave it out but we are so happy it’s being included in the re-release. It was always a band and producer favourite.”
