Todd Jones Plans To Continue Nails With New Members

Nails’ Todd Jones has officially commented on drummer Taylor Young and bassist John Gianelli’s departures from the band. The frontman said that he has already recruited new musicians and that they are currently working on a new album.

Here’s Jones’ full statement:

“Hey everyone I don’t really stop in to drop updates here as Nails is simply what people in the music industry refer to as “off cycle” and I believe it’s healthy for bands to … go away, for lack of better term, and return when they have something relevant to say which in Nails case, would be new music as we haven’t released anything in a few years.

With that being said, John and Taylor are not in Nails anymore and it seems like a good time to let you know that. With that being said, as people have been inquiring, the next point to address is the future of Nails.

This change happened months ago, so I’ve had time to get things together, work on our 4th album, and find musicians to play with. When we are ready to announce that info, we will let you know. John and Taylor without a doubt made their mark on Nails, which is beyond measure and personally I will always cherish the experiences and music we shared together. –Todd.”

Taylor Young Announces His Departure From Nails

Taylor Young has announced his departure from Nails. The drummer says he played his final show with the band in December and officially left in the spring.

Young said the following:

“Here we have my first and final recorded contribution to NAILS. The 10th anniversary version of Unsilent Death is out now on Southern Lord Records featuring two previously unreleased songs, as well as the Obscene Humanity 7” remixed and remastered with those two songs.

The band and I parted ways this past spring, and I played my final show with the band last December. I’ll always be a TYRANT; the band will always be a massive part of me, and I hope it keeps going. If anybody has an inkling of a feeling that NAILS can’t make good music without me, that’s simply not true as Todd’s attention to detail, and quality control is unmatched. It was a wild decade with Todd, John, Saba, Leon and others and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. However, I cannot update you on the status of the band so no more questions about it please.”

Nails Officially Welcome Leon del Muerte (Phobia, Ex-Intronaut, Etc.) To The Band

Nails have officially welcomed guitarist Leon del Muerte (Phobia, ex-Intronaut, etc.) to the band. He is taking over for Andy Saba.

The band commented:

“Nails would like to welcome the addition of second guitarist, Leon Del Muerte. You may recognize Leon from recent Nails shows since we started touring on ‘You Will Never Be One Of Us‘ or from playing with such bands as Terrorizer L.A., Nausea, Intronaut, Phobia, Murder Construct etc. He’s the fucking man and any time you’re at a Nails gig, you’ll be watching him grind your face off with us.

On that note, we would like to acknowledge the departure of Andy Saba. He left the band (on his terms) December 2015. Saba‘s creative contribution to Nails and skill as a guitarist will never be understated. He co-wrote the ‘Abandon All Life‘ LP as well as the ‘2-song Flexi’ and was a great addition to the band during his tenure. Saba left his mark on Nails, on our fans, and his input to the band is immeasurable. Nails would like to extend much peace, love, respect, and appreciation to Andy Saba.”
