Epica Share Music Video For “Sirens – Of Blood And Water” Featuring Charlotte Wessels & Myrkur

Epica have premiered a new video for their song “Sirens – Of Blood And Water.” The track, which features Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain) and Myrkur, appears on the band’s recently released mini-album “The Alchemy Project.“ Epica’s Simone Simons commented:

“Charlotte and I go back many years, but we never really worked on music together. Since she started releasing her solo songs, I became an admirer of her work and reached out to her to create a song for ‘The Alchemy Project’. That collaboration resulted in the beautiful haunting song, ‘Sirens – Of Blood And Water’. We both have a fascination for mermaids, the fairytale from H.C. Andersen and wanted to write a song from the perspective of the sisters of the little mermaid. I loved how our creative minds flowed into the song and having Myrkur, who happens to be Danish just like the author of the tale, add her unique voice to the song was the perfect match that we needed to complete the story.”

Epica Premiere New Song “The Great Tribulation” Featuring Fleshgod Apocalypse

Epica have premiered a new song titled “The Great Tribulation.” The track, which features Fleshgod Apocalypse, will appear on the band’s new mini-album “The Alchemy Project,“ which is set to be released on November 11. Epica’s Mark Jansen commented:

“We know the guys and girl from Fleshgod Apocalypse already for quite a long time and toured together. There’s a lot of mutual respect for each other’s music, so when we approached them to work together on a track, they were right away enthusiastic. I did send them some very basic ideas I had for two songs, so they could pick what they liked the most. They ended up using all the ideas and combining them into one song. That was already very promising. From there on, we organized several sessions where we worked on the song together. The process was very smooth and very inspiring. I think the result is a perfect blend between both bands!”

A video for the effort’s first single, “The Final Lullaby” (feat. Shining), can be found below. Bassist Rob Van Der Loo said the following about that track:

“I’ve been a big fan of Shining since the first time I heard them. Our intention with ‘The Final Lullaby’ was to make a mash-up between Epica and Shining so we thought it would be a good idea if I would come up with some riffs that would be typical Shining and they would do the complete opposite.”

Epica Working On “Secret Project”

During a recent interview with The Metal Voice, Epica’s Simone Simons revealed that the band are working on a “secret project.” According to her, it will be “something [they have] never done before”

Simons said the following:

“We have new music that will be released later this year. And it’s not an EPICA album; it’s not your typical EPICA epicness. [Laughs] It’s something we’ve never done before. So definitely also worth the anticipation. But it will be released early winter or something like that.”

We’re working on the artwork at the moment. We have singles ready. I already shot a video for one of the songs… We had a couple of things on our list that we wanted to try, and it also kind of came to fruition during the pandemic.

It’s a busy year for EPICA. We’ve been busy during the pandemic with non-touring things, but now we had so many festivals and working behind the scenes on this, we like to call it ‘secret project.'”

She also added

“We have an online fan community which is called ‘Epica Universe’, and there we have been already spoiling a little bit of what the ‘secret project’ is about. So if people are curious, they are welcome to join the ‘Epica Universe’… It’s really totally different. I can’t wait for that music to be released because we have been teasing everybody on the ‘Epica Universe’ forever about this secret project. And it’s taken up a lot of our time… There’s not a lot of details about it yet, but on the ‘Epica Universe’, the fan club, we’ve been posting a little bit behind-the-scenes things, and you can hear choir bits and pieces and orchestration already.”

As part of their 20th anniversary celebration, Epica have launched a new online “Universe.” Fans can join that HERE.

The group commented:

“We truly feel like there’s a universe within the band, a world of our own, and we want to invite our lifeblood to be citizens — Epicans, if you will. Think of it as a sequel to past EPICA fan clubs like ‘The Fantom Agony’ and ‘The French Crusade’ but updated for the modern era; it’s more fan community than club. Epica Universe will give Epicans insight into our lives, both personal and professional, through exclusive behind-the-scenes photos, podcasts, polls, vlogs, live hangouts and much more. There’s even a (super limited) tier that includes one-on-one video calls with a band member each month!”

Furthermore, Epica will also be re-releasing their first three albums, “The Phantom Agony,” “Consign To Oblivion,” and “The Score 2.0”, on CD and vinyl and as limited earbooks and boxsets. A 20th anniversary show will also be held at the 013 in Tilburg, NET on September 3.

Epica Share “Unchain Utopia” Live Video From “Omega Alive”

Epica have shared a new live video for their song “Unchain Utopia.” This track is from the band’s new live album/film “Omega Alive,” which will be released on December 3.

The following was said about “Omega Alive” in an official press release:

“In June this year, symphonic metal titans EPICA unleashed a monument to their music, their career, and their enduring legacy as forebears of a whole genre. The worldwide streaming event “Ωmega Alive” was the EPICA show of your wildest dreams, brought to life by 75 artists and crew members – think Marvel meeting Cirque de Soleil in a Tim Burton universe!

Tailor-made videos and graphic effects, spectacular pyro effects, rain, dancers, choirs and actors, all added to the aura of symbolism and cinematic splendor, that brought fans from over 100 countries to flock to their screens and witness a show that became the biggest concert event in the band’s 19-year-long history. Now, you can finally rediscover the entire opus in various audiovisual formats, available on December 3rd, 2021.

Coen Janssen, the mastermind behind the show’s concept explains further, “What we wanted to do was the ultimate EPICA show where we could fulfill every dream we ever had, where there was room for all the ideas, effects and props that are just too big to be taken on tour.” Far from your usual streaming concert, the band developed a trademark feature called a “living backdrop”. “We built another stage right behind our stage where lots of things were going on the whole time. And we meant that very literally. Every song got something extra, something unique that was fitting its world.”

Directed by Jens de Vos (Panda Productions) and graced by a magical artwork by Heilemania, the DVD, BluRay, CD, and vinyl contain 15 EPICA classics, fan-favorites, as well as first-ever live performances from tracks off the band’s latest chef-d’oeuvre Ωmega, such as ‘The Skeleton Key’ or the insanely monumental ‘Kingdom of Heaven Part 3.’”

Epica Announce “Omega Alive” Streaming Event

Epica have announced a virtual concert, which they are calling “Omega Alive.” The event will stream on June 12 at 12:00 p.m. PST / 3:00 p.m. EST and it will be available on demand for 72 hours. Tickets can be found HERE. Coen Janssen commented:

“After releasing our new album ‘Omega’, we found ourselves with great new songs aching to be played live, but without a stage to perform them on. We still wanted to give our fans the best possible release show like we always do, so, together with Jens De Vos from Panda Productions, we came up with a way to bring the Epica experience into the homes of the fans all over the world. ‘Omega Alive’ is Epica’s biggest show ever, and I can’t be more proud of what it has become! We went all out on everything we have to offer and I can tell you it is one massive audio-visual spectacle! Immerse yourself in the world of Epica and join us in ‘Omega Alive’!”
