Finally, if you live in OKC, make sure to keep up with the @oklahomafilmexchange – a microcinema, worker co-op, and arts collective located in the historic Paramount Building on Film Row where you’ll find some members of Chat Pile working and curating movies with some frequency.

  • Plini To Release New Album “An Unnameable Desire” In April

Plini will be releasing a new album, titled “An Unnameable Desire,” on April 24. A video for the effort’s title track can be found below:

    Plini commented on the album:

“Something I’m very happy about, after many years of making music and the “career” aspect of it becoming a whole lot more serious, is that the process hasn’t changed – still just me sitting in a room, tinkering on a guitar until I come across an interesting idea, and then following it down various rabbit holes until it starts feeling like a song.

The intention with this album was to let that side of the process be as playful as possible, and then when it came to executing these ideas as finished songs, trying to expand the music in every direction possible: the heavier parts should be heavier, the pretty parts should be prettier, the hard-to-play stuff should be harder to play… and also in being as thoughtful and intricate as possible in relating the songs to each other through various themes and references. I hope it’s as enjoyable to listen to as it was to make!”

He also added the following about the single:

“I picked this as the first single because it sets the tone/sound of the album without really giving anything away. I’m known as a guitarist, but this song doesn’t even really contain a guitar “solo”. Much like the video, it’s the whimsical first chapter of an adventure, and hopefully gives a false sense of security for what’s to come.”

    “An Unnameable Desire” Track Listing:

    01. “Dorénavant“
    02. “An Unnameable Desire“
    03. “Ciel“
    04. “Canyon“

    06. “Manala“
    07. “Vespertine“
    08. “Ruin“

  • Guilt Trip Premiere “No Love Lost” Music Video

Guilt Trip have premiered a new video for their new song “No Love Lost.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Armour Of Angels,” which will be released on June 5. The group commented:

“‘No Love Lost‘ is all the best of Guilt Trip spliced into a fast and unrelenting 2.5 minutes. This is just a taste of things to come as we prepare to unleash our third LP, ‘Armour of Angels‘. We are immensely proud of this record, combining everything special about ‘Severance‘ with an added swing of heaviness and a more mature writing style. We hope these three years have been worth the wait. Thank you to everyone that has and everyone that continues to support Guilt Trip.”

  • Basement Premiere “The Way I Feel” Music Video

Basement have premiered a new video for their new song “The Way I Feel.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Wired,” which will be released on May 8. Vocalist Andrew Fisher commented:

“‘The Way I Feel‘ is about standing on the edge of a really important decision, right before you make it. Constantly questioning whether you have the courage to stand up for yourself and fight your side, while at the same time begging for forgiveness and acknowledgement. My tongue is in my cheek quite a lot in this song – you need to decide when I’m saying what I mean or not.I love the simplicity of this song and I love that the intro is the same audio sample that Al made on his loop pedal. I knew from the first time he sent that audio file that this would be a song.”

  • Neurosis: “By Referring To Our New Music As A Gift, You Have Given Us A Gift”

Neurosis have taken to social media to thank fans for their support following the release of their new album “An Undying Love For A Burning World.” That surprise record is their first to feature new vocalist/guitarist Aaron Turner (SUMAC, etc.).

    The band said the following:

“We want to offer you all our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude. We are quite overwhelmed and more than humbled. Never in our wildest imagination could we have foreseen that our return and new album would have such a deep resonance and emotional impact. We have always tried to hold to an artistic ethos of “give everything, expect nothing” and have always made this music for ourselves, making the music we need to make at any given moment.

This experience is making it abundantly clear that what we have tapped into is much larger than ourselves or our band and that we are involved in a mutual exchange of cathartic energy that we haven’t often witnessed, especially on the cesspool of the internet. Anyone giving a piece of art or music their time and attention should never be taken for granted and you have given us more than our share.

By referring to our new music as a gift, you have given us a gift, by telling us that it lifted you up, you have lifted us up, by telling us that it has given you hope, you have given us hope. By giving our new family member such a warm welcome, and unparalleled acceptance you have validated our feeling that he is meant to be here.

As two of you so perfectly stated, “I don’t remember anything bringing this many people together, a rarity on the internet. We got our souls back.” “Healing has begun.” We wouldn’t dare take credit for this, this is on all of us. We are all in this moment together and we are all fortunate to have these emotionally purifying outlets that bring us together and give us the strength to keep going.
    Thank you.”
