Hypocrisy’s Peter Tägtgren: “Maybe This Is Our Last American Tour”

During a recent interview with Blabbermouth, Hypocrisy’s Peter Tägtgren touched on a variety of topics including the band’s current North American tour. Notably, the frontman mentioned that the trek might be their “last American tour.”

Tägtgren said the following when asked if the band had to adjust their setlist after recently parting ways with drummer Reidar “Horgh” Horghagen:

“No, we’re not changing anything. If we bring in someone who can’t do things, we’re not in a good position. We turned everything upside down for the set. There’s nothing much left. [Laughs]

We’re doing a lot of old songs that we either never played before or that we played maybe on one tour in the mid-1990s. There are a lot of changes. Of course, we have to do the ‘hits’ and things like that, no doubt about it. That’s our obligation as a band. You want to play what people want to hear.

I’m not paying for a ticket to go there, so I am responsible for making people buy a ticket and be happy. Who knows how many tours we will do. I have no clue. Maybe this is the last American tour. Maybe we do one or two more. I don’t know how much there is in our system, so to speak.”

It’s not easy for us. We’ve played together for 18 crazy years filled with music, tours and friendship. So many countries, so many songs, and so many gigs with Horgh on stage with us. It’s the end of a long interesting chapter, and the beginning of a new one.

We are grateful to Horgh, this great musician and great man, for all we have achieved together.”

Horghagen added:

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the fans for the great support over the years, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to meet so many of you as we toured around the world. Thanks to the band and crew for the time we spent together. I wish you all the best for the future.”

When he started playing the song, I felt that the world needs to hear this crushing song asap as the groove and tempo blew my mind. The video idea came from our director Andrey Kezzyn and it’s similar to my point of view of what’s about to come of the world. Maybe not literally, but who knows. Enjoy!”
