Hjelvik (Ex-Kvelertak) Releases Uncensored Version Of His “Glory Of Hel” Video

Hjelvik (ex-Kvelertak) has released an uncensored version of his video for “Glory Of Hel.“ You can check that out below. “Glory Of Hel“ features Matt Pike (High On Fire, Sleep) and it will appear on Hjelvik’s new album “Welcome To Hel,” which is set to be released on November 20. Hjelvik previously commented:

“I’m excited to finally unveil ‘Glory Of Hel‘ in all its…glory! It’s one of the hardest rocking tracks from ‘Welcome To Hel‘ and is visited by the mythical Matt Pike (High On Fire & Sleep) who lends his killer voice and face melting guitar solo. To top that off, there’s a badass animated music video created by the disgustingly talented Adam Avilla. The video depicts a twisted take on the death of Odin’s son Balder and the ensuing events of Ragnarok with an animation style reminiscent of cult classics like ‘Heavy Metal‘ and ‘Fire and Ice‘. Thanks to both Matt and Adam for their amazing contributions and I hope people love it!”

Hjelvik (Ex-Kvelertak) Premieres “Helgrinda” Lyric Video

Hjelvik (ex-Kvelertak) has premiered a lyric video for his new song “Helgrinda.“ This track is from his new album “Welcome To Hel,” which will be released on November 20. Hjelvik commented:

“‘Helgrinda‘ is one of my personal favorites on the album and is sung entirely in Norwegian. It’s one of the more black metal leaning songs on the album and so it felt appropriate to write the lyrics in my native tongue. The lyrics revolve around ancient Scandinavian burial rites and chronicles a fateful journey to the Norse underworld Hel.”

Hjelvik (Ex-Kvelertak) Premieres “North Tsar” Music Video

Hjelvik (ex-Kvelertak) has premiered a new video for his new song “North Tsar.“ This track is from his new album “Welcome To Hel,” which will be released on November 20.

Hjelvik commented:

“It feels great to finally give people the first taste of what’s to come with this awesome video for “North Tsar” that the talented guys at Grupa13 created for me! It was a cool experience, the day corona-restrictions lifted, I took the first flight from Norway to Poland and we shot the whole video in one day in a Viking village called Jomsborg.

Grupa13 did an excellent job with their team including well-trained Viking reenactors, an amazing SFX crew and even brought in wolves and a huge raven. It was an intense and efficient shoot. It felt crazy to be standing in the middle of a Viking battle while performing my song, especially since the village was open to tourists who appeared midway through to stand there, gawk and take selfie’s…making the experience slightly more bizarre! Nonetheless, I had a great time and I’m extremely pleased with the result!”

It’s worth noting that Hjelvik is also planning to release an uncensored version of the “North Tsar” video tomorrow (September 19).

Erlend Hjelvik (Ex-Kvelertak) Announces New Solo Project Hjelvik

Ex-Kvelertak frontman Erlend Hjelvik has returned with a new solo project called Hjelvik. The band, which also features guitarist Rob Steinway, guitarist Remi André Nygård, bassist Alexis Lieu, and drummer Kevin Foley, will release their debut album “Welcome To Hel” later this year via Nuclear Blast.

Hjelvik said the following about signing with Nuclear Blast:

“Signing with Nuclear Blast is a dream come true for me. Since I was a teenager, I’ve been a fan of classic NB bands like Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames and so on — so that makes me feel extra proud to call Nuclear Blast my new label home. I’m certain Nuclear Blast will do an awesome job bringing Hjelvik metal to the masses on my new album, ‘Welcome To Hel’, and many more to come.”

He went on to say that the new material will feature “blackened Viking heavy metal” with lyrics based on Norse mythology and history.

Jens Prüter, head of A&R at Nuclear Blast Europe, added:

“It’s been 10 years since I first saw Erlend with Kvelertak in my hometown Dortmund in Germany. Their debut album had only been out for a couple of months and was on heavy rotation on my turntable. I was blown away by the raw energy of his stage performance, and ten years later, it is an honour to start working with him on Hjelvik. He has not lost his high energy and brings his unique mix of black metal, hard rock and punk to a new level. Welcome to Nuclear Blast and onward to Hel!
