Betraying The Martyrs Recording New Music

Betraying The Martyrs Recruit Rui Martins As Their New Vocalist, Premiere “Black Hole” Music Video

Betraying The Martyrs have officially welcomed Rui Martins to the band as their new vocalist. With this news, the group have also premiered a new video for their new song “Black Hole.“ You can check that out below:

The band said the following about recruiting Martins:

“We DEFINITELY upgraded to BTM 2.0! Of course it’s still BTM, but totally an upgraded version of our band! Most of us are pretty perfectionists about our own art, and we would have never allowed a downgrade! We’re super stoked and excited to have people’s opinion and reactions about this new track, we’re well aware that changing the frontman can be a little tricky sometimes (even if bands like Northlane, Chelsea Grin, and Lorna Shore showed us that it could be very successful!) but we’re very confident Rui‘s the perfect fit, and we hope people will welcome our new recruit with open arms and show him the support he deserves! Rui‘s abilities will definitely take things to a whole new level, as he has a great approach for both the heavy side and the more melodic part of our songwriting.

Rui knows perfectly what BTM was and also is now in 2021. He helped so much to make this new version of BTM the best it can be. He has a great vision of what BTM fans expect and also where we want to go. Rui is bringing a lot of great ideas for his vocals, lyric-wise, melody-wise…and his vocal range is incredible: he can go from super heavy guttural screams to high pitched beautiful clean vocals; it’s a real pleasure to be able to work with someone so talented, and we’re definitely planning on using his range to the maximum of its potential to serve BTM’s upcoming music!”

The following was also added about the new song in a press release:

“This brand-new song depicts how a toxic relationship can imprison and deceive someone and goes through all the phases that one usually has to go through to realize what is wrong and finally be set free. It doesn’t matter how hard one tries if the other person is unwilling to improve themselves and their mutual relationship. To suffer is to learn but also to kill a part of us. The protagonist is reborn at the end, but he paid a high price, and the scars are visible.”

As previously reported, Betraying The Martyrs will be playing their first show with Martins at the Omega Sound Fest in Mûrs-Erigné, France on October 16.

Aaron Matts Exits Betraying The Martyrs, Announces New Project ten56.

Aaron Matts has announced his departure from Betraying The Martyrs. The vocalist will be moving forward with a new project called ten56.

Matts said the following:

“Ten years have gone by in the blink of an eye, it feels like just yesterday I was moving to France to join the band that changed my life forever and brought me so many new experiences and countless friends; and although this is a decision that I initially made more than a year ago, it feels odd to be putting this into words now; but here we are.

Betraying The Martyrs has been the focus point of my life for the most part of these past ten years and was at some point the very thing that defined who I was as a person; but as you all know, times change and it is with a heavy heart but also with a great deal of anticipation that I have decided to part ways with my role as the lead vocalist of the band.

There are many reasons and factors that have played a role in making this decision, but what it really boils down to is simply the necessity to make decisions for myself, to do what’s right for me in order for me to remain healthy and happy; and above all, to remain true to myself, to who I am as a person, a musician, and to what really moves me artistically.

During the process of making this decision I felt like I had lost that passionate connection that I felt to music, to performing, and everything in-between; but I came to realize that I still have that fire that burns so bright, but that I need to do it for the same reasons that made me follow my heart at the very start of this journey. So, I got my head down and instead of putting my energy into giving up, I put it into building something that I can truly say is 100% of what makes me, me.

It brings me a great deal of excitement to save my breath on the regular “I’m still going to be active as a musician, so keep your eyes peeled” nonsense, and instead to announce that for the past year I have built a new band that embodies everything I love about heavy music, something I feel extremely passionate about, and that tonight, I will be announcing the band name and line up, and that in exactly one week from today I’ll release the first single from a record that I am extremely proud of!

I, of course want to take this opportunity to thank every single person that has ever been involved in helping to build BTM into what it is now; all of the fans both past and present, bands that I met along the way that had a huge influence in putting us on, and also those in the industry who put their blind faith in what we were doing. There are way too many people to list, but you know exactly who you are.

Thank you to all of those people that so generously dived deep into their pockets to help us when we lost everything to a blaze and kept us going through the hardest days of our lives.

If one thing is certain, it’s that BTM is not over. The band have been working on incredible new material, and I can sincerely say that the torch has been passed to a very talented, and deserving individual who will not disappoint, trust me!

His identity as well as the new music the guys have been working on real hard for the past months will all be revealed soon, so please make sure to keep supporting the band like you’ve all being doing for all these years. We’ve never taken your support for granted and we’re fully aware that we wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t thanks to you all. We part ways in good terms and relationships; it’s simply time for me to build something new, but rest assured that I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life.

Thank you for the ride guys, all of you. It’s been real.

Aaron“

Over this past year, I have gotten together with some incredible musicians from outstanding bands (Novelists FR, Kadinja, Uneven Structure, etc.) and formed a well-oiled and destructive machine named ten56. ten56. is an embodiment of everything that inspires us, and keeps this fire burning. We’re incredibly excited to reveal this sound that we’ve been working on; the clip is full up and we’re ready to spray!

Betraying The Martyrs Premiere “Monster” Music Video

Betraying The Martyrs have premiered a new video for their song “Monster.” This track is from the band’s latest album “Rapture.” The group commented:

“This video was shot at various shows across the globe during one year of touring. We would like to thank everyone that has been a part of this, every person that attended a show, all of the road crew that helped out along the way, and every venue and their staff. It’s been a tough year for us and we really want to thank everyone deeply for all the support we received.”

Betraying The Martyrs Share “Rapture” Album Sampler

Betraying The Martyrs have shared a sampler with previews of all the tracks on their new album “Rapture.” That effort will be released tomorrow (September 13).

Aaron Matts commented:

“‘Rapture‘ embodies every path we have walked since the beginning of our journey. Physically and emotionally, we poured all we have into creating a musical rollercoaster that takes the listener to the darkest corners of their mind. We are incredibly excited for people to finally lend their ear to a piece we have worked so hard on, and hope that they can enjoy it as much as we do. Thank you to all who have given us their attention over the years, this one is for you!”

He also told Billboard the following:

“The album does really have dark subject matter… I was going through a lot of depression and anxiety, just like everyone seems to be at this point in time. I try to keep it vague so people can connect and relate to the subject matter. I tried to ask the other guys what they had on their minds and write things that felt close to all our hearts, personally. It just came together naturally and very organically. I think that reflects in the music.”
