Abigail Williams have officially started the recording process for their new album. The band confirmed the news in the below post, while also revealing that the effort will feature drums from Mike Heller (Fear Factory).
It looks like Abigail Williams are working on a new album. The band confirmed the news on Facebook:
“In light of worldwide touring cancellations and our day jobs on hold, we said fuck it and wrote a new album. Currently in self isolation, recording our followup to “Walk Beyond the Dark.” Possible release date by end of 2020.”
Abigail Williams are streaming their new album “Walk Beyond The Dark” in full via Revolver. That effort will officially be released tomorrow (November 15).
Ken Sorceron commented:
“Musically, it’s like the ending of one journey and the start of the next. I feel like I was able to take the entire history of the band, all the different sounds and styles we’ve experimented with over the years, combine it all into this grand mixture with new twists and turns, and take it to the next level. Even with it serving as a monument of sorts to everything the band has done before, it’s not about the past, though.
It’s about closing a chapter and looking forward to what comes next, pushing onward and seeing where we go from here. Anyone who follows the band knows I’ve always done what’s been in my heart, I’m always exploring new things and writing with what’s in my head at that time rather than feeling beholden to anything that came before, and this serves as a stepping stone to leap into the unknown.”
You can also find a track-by-track breakdown over at Revolver as well.

The following was said about the new album:
“Abigail Williams returns with their boldest and most diverse offering to date.
‘Walk Beyond the Dark’ summarizes the band’s previous experiments into one defining statement.
The album deftly wields the forces of light and dark in skilled measure. Icy guitars and bleak atmospheres encircle. String accompaniments burst into rapture. Powerful guitars shift between slithering rhythms and all-out assaults.
The grandiosity of the band’s debut album arrives via intricate string accompaniments. The raw fury of their sophomore effort pummels. A sense of space and clarity evokes the band’s third album. And the gritty darkness and progressive oddity evoke the fourth.
‘Walk Beyond the Dark’ melds all previous efforts into an undeniable force, elevating the result to the next level.
Abigail Williams take their rightful crown as the lords of American black metal.
The melancholic futility of despair. Surrender to the mysterious void.”
It looks like Abigail Williams are almost done with their new album. Ken “Sorceron” Bergeron issued the following statement via Facebook:
“Quick update: New album is less than a week from being completely tracked and then goes off to Lasse Lammert / LSD-Studio for mixing. Album title and artwork will be revealed soon after mixing and I promise to start posting more on here when this is finished because the last few years I left it up to other people and very much have neglected it for a while.”

Fro now, you can check out the demo version of the new Abigail Williams track “The Final Failure” below:
Here’s an official press release:
Blood Music is extremely proud to present to its roster – Abigail Williams!
Coming full circle since the label’s inception, Abigail Williams was the second band the label ever released on vinyl.
The band is now recording their as-yet-untitled fifth album to be released in full via Blood Music in 2017.
Abigail Williams has been a decade-long forum for [band mastermind and production engineer] Ken Sorceron to explore his vast interest in various black metal production techniques. The band has effortlessly shapeshifted from Emperor official-inspired symphonic black metal [little known fact, Trym Torson actually performed drums on most of the band’s debut “In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns”] to Cascadian-inspired black metal on the band’s incredible “Becoming” to the raw, chewing-on-broken-glass breakthrough “The Accuser,” which was one of the best releases of 2015.
The band finally hit their stride with their last two albums and are moving forward with a sound somewhere between “Becoming” and “The Accuser,” with the more raw, psychedelic bent being splintered out to the spin-off project The Accuser.
That’s right, there are two albums currently in development, with the upcoming Abigail Williams album already mentioned at the top of Metal Injection’s most-looked-forward to albums of 2017.
In addition to being one of the main vinyl engineers for Blood Music releases (having remastered everything from Perturbator to Ihsahn -Official- to Ensiferum), Sorceron is also currently finishing up vocal duties on the new The Faceless album and will be joined again by Jeff Wilson (Abigail Williams “The Accuser,” Wolvhammer, Chrome Waves, ex-Nachtmystium).
The Abigail Williams and The Accuser albums are both written. Next up is going in to record. Both albums are slated for completion and release through Blood Music in 2017.
