Thirty Seconds To Mars Part Ways With Guitarist Tomo Miličević, Premiere “Rescue Me” Video

Tomo Miličević has announced his departure from Thirty Seconds To Mars. He didn’t give much of a reason, but did say it is the “best thing for [him] in [his] life and also for the band.”

Here’s Miličević’s full statement:

“There’s really not an easy way to say it so I thought, just say it.

I am no longer with Thirty Seconds To Mars.

I don’t really know how to explain in a note how I could have come to a decision like this, but please believe me when I say that this is the best thing for me in my life and also for the band.

The years that I have been privileged enough to spend with all of you will live inside of my heart and mind as some of the most amazing memories I’ll ever have. Even though this is incredibly painful because of my attachment to, and love for everyone involved, I know that this pain will be fleeting for myself, and anyone who’s feeling the same because I know that it is the right thing.

If there are any thoughts that have resonated with us throughout the years they are this…

Believe in yourself.
Follow your dreams no matter what.

I want to just say how lucky I feel to have been able to stand on that stage in front of you all, alongside Jared and Shannon, and to share the moments that we have shared over these last fifteen years together.

I want you all to know how much I love everyone and how much I appreciate all of your well wishes while I was working up the courage to write these words to you all, and I’m sorry it took so long to do so.

Most of all I want to say thank you to Jared and Shannon for allowing me the privilege to be a small part of their dream and to have been able to share the stage with them for so long. I’ll cherish the moments we had together and I’ll have love in my heart ever time I think of those days until I draw my final breath.

Thank you so much for giving me a chance to live one of my dreams…

To the fans I say this,
Please don’t be sad or angry over this and most of all, please don’t be divided over this, this is a good thing and will be good for everyone. Remember something very important, this band brought ALL of us together, me included. So, even though I’m leaving the band my spirit will never leave the family, and you never know, maybe you’ll see me sitting next to you on the lawn somewhere sometime just singing along…

With Love and Gratitude,

In other news, Thirty Seconds To Mars have also premiered a new video for “Rescue Me.” Jared Leto had the following to say about that:

“‘Rescue Me’ is a song about pain, a song about empowerment, a song about faith, and a song about freedom.

Freedom from the wreckage of your past. Freedom from the bondage of self. And freedom to embrace all the promises that life has to offer.

It’s also a song about the brutal war so many of us wage against fear, depression and anxiety in the hope that we might, one day, live a life filled with happiness and dreams.

Pain does not discriminate. It can affect us all. In our bodies. Our hearts. Our minds. And often, when that pain is emotional or mental, we are afraid to speak up.

None of us are “ok” all the time. And there shouldn’t be a stigma when we aren’t. Both my brother and I have had our own intense personal battles and it has, and continues to be, life changing. I try to remember that just past the darkest days await the brightest and most rewarding moments. And that change is always right around the corner.

I want to thank everyone for being so brave, selfless and vulnerable in this video. The emotion and honesty shared impacted me greatly and I hope it does that same for you all. I am very proud and grateful to have worked with one of my heroes – the master filmmaker and director Mark Romanek. It’s the first time in 13 years I haven’t directed our videos. It was a gift to have him carry the weight so graciously and deliver something so profoundly simple and beautiful.

If you think someone in your life needs help, ask them if they’re ok and make sure they they know you’re there for them. And keep showing up. Help however you can.

If you are hurting, you can get through this. Tell someone you trust. And please make sure you ask for help.

Thirty Seconds To Mars Detail New Album “America”

Thirty Seconds to Mars have confirmed that their new album will be titled “America.” The effort will be released on April 6, and it will feature collaborations with A$AP Rocky and Halsey, as well as one track produced by Zedd. The title most likely comes from Jared Leto’s “A Day in the Life of America” documentary, which will be released later this year. That film features footage that was captured around the country on a single day, July 4, 2017.

The band have also launched a visual campaign, which includes lists that are appearing on billboards in Los Angeles, New York, London, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Toronto, Mexico City, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Essen, Nurnberg, Hannover, and Frankfurt. These lists represent American ideals and will coincide with the effort’s multiple album covers. Fans can make their own “America” lists using an official generator HERE.

Leto commented:

“For me the lists are almost like a time capsule. Independently they may surprise, entertain or provoke, but as a group they give us a sense of the culture we are a part of and the times we are living in.”
