Gorguts Stream “Pleiades’ Dust” EP In Full

Gorguts are streaming their new EP “Pleiades’ Dust” in full, via Decibel. The effort will officially be released on May 13.

Luc Lemay said the following:

“Dear fans,

It with great joy that we can finally share this new sonic painting with you. I must say that I’ve been looking forward this moment for quite some time now. I couldn’t be more proud of this new amalgam of themes, ambiances and surprises that appeared along the process of carving this new composition. I like to call them “happy accidents”. That’s what the beauty of writing and composing is all about.

I’m also very happy that the story of a long forgotten library made his way to my curiosity. With this theme, I was able to pay an ode to those ancient thinkers, to the beauty of books and history. Three things that have been fascinating me for a long, long time.

Enjoy!

Luc“

Gorguts To Release New EP “Pleiades’ Dust” In May

Luc Lemay issued the following statement:

“As our EP ‘Pleiades’ Dust‘ consists out of a single long narrative composition, it was not written with the intention of being edited in segments. As the storyline proceeds in chapters though, I was able to isolate this part called ‘Wandering Times‘ which will give the listener a good idea of the composition aesthetics which are present throughout the whole piece.

The lyrics tell the story of the ‘House of Wisdom’, which is referring to a library that was based in Baghdad sometime between the 8th and the 13th century. There much of the intellectual activity of the Middle Age took place while Europe was stuck in the Dark ages after the fall of Rome. Many scientific discoveries were made at the time such as algebra, optics, astronomy, and many more… Without the translation movement that brought this library to life, we would have never had the Renaissance that we know. It is a story about curiosity, beautiful minds and sadly, about how man destroys great discoveries and achievements.”
