Death Valley High Premiere “Raise Hell” Music Video

Death Valley High have premiered a new video for their new song “Raise Hell.” Reyka Osburn commented:

“I got sick of hearing the misuse of the term ‘witch hunt’ and the ignorance just throwing it around. I started to imagine a scenario bridging physical and metaphysical uproar. ‘Raise hell’ usually means to rebel rouse, but in this instance, I actually mean to devil rouse.”

Death Valley High Premiere New Video For Their Cover Of Christian Death‘s “Cavity – First Communion” Feat. Chino Moreno (Deftones)

Death Valley High have premiered a new video for their cover of Christian Death‘s “Cavity – First Communion.” This track features Chino Moreno (Deftones, etc.) and it will appear on the band’s new EP “Duel,“ which is set to be released on August 23.

Reyka Osburn commented:

“We were on tour with Crosses on the East Coast and were all backstage hanging out. Chino had some music playing in the background for post-show vibes, and when this Christian Death song came on, I burst over to their room. We all fawned over our love for this particular record, ‘Only Theatre Of Pain‘. By the end of ‘Cavity – First Communion,’ he says, ‘We gotta play this song before the end of the tour!’ ‘DONE,’ I firmly agree and added, ‘We should RECORD it!’ He looked at me with eyes ablaze and exclaimed, ‘We can do ANYTHING!”

Fast forward, the tour ends, and we never get a chance to play it! But I had already taken the collaboration to heart. DVH started discussing an all cover mixtape of sorts, one where we would collaborate with friends on each song. After prepping a rough draft, I sent it over to Chino‘s approving: ‘I’m IN.’ After some time went by, we realized our remake was just a little too faithful to the original, so we started asking, ‘What’s actually new here to offer?’

If we had done it live, we probably would’ve done just that: a faithful tribute to a classic. But since we were committing to a studio recording, we all knew we had to circle back and rekindle it. After all, this was some sacred ground we were treading! We can now comfortably say that we’ve done our honest best — contributing to the original, not just done a cover for the sake of doing one.”

Chino Moreno (Deftones), Spirit In The Room, Etc. To Guest On New Death Valley High EP

Death Valley High will be releasing a new EP titled “Duel” on August 23. The first half of the effort features cover songs that find the band “dueling” with other artists such as Chino Moreno (Deftones), Spirit In The Room, etc. The second half features various remixes. A teaser for the EP can be found below:

Death Valley High commented:

“‘DUEL‘ is our equivalent to the modern age mixtape; it severs the rules of a conventional release. The special part is, that for every song in this compilation, we assigned a specific ‘adversary.’ The whole idea was to go up against our collaborators’ and our own comfort zones. We wanted to prove that doubling down on the friction would spark fires.”

“Duel” Track Listing:

01. “Here Comes The Rain” (Death Valley High Vs. Chris Connelly)
02. “Cavity – First Communion” (Death Valley High Vs. Chino Moreno)

Listen To Chino Moreno’s (Deftones) Previously Unreleased Cover Of Bananarama’s “Cruel Summer” (UPDATED)

UPDATE: The PRP are now reporting that this is not the cover Chino Moreno recorded with Death Valley High. Many sites assumed that was the case due to Death Valley High teasing it would be a “cruel summer” before their “Duel” EP got scrapped. The track was actually recorded by Moreno, his Palms bandmate Aaron Harris (ex-Isis,) and composer Kris Dirksen for

Original Story:

Death Valley High recorded a cover of Bananarama‘s “Cruel Summer” with Deftones’ Chino Moreno back in 2015 for their covers EP “Duel,“ but it was never released. Now, the track has surfaced online via a new Methodic Artists playlist. You can find that aforementioned playlist HERE.

Concert Review: Orgy, Powerman 5000, Death Valley High & Knee High Fox In San Jose, CA

Last night (January 29) I attended the San Jose, CA date of the “Set To Stun” tour, featuring Orgy, Powerman 5000, Death Valley High, and Knee High Fox, and it was a cool show.

Knee High Fox opened up with an powerful set. Frontwoman Chrissy Fox’s vocals really stood out with her great melodic singing and screaming. Those combined with her backing band made for a  solid performance. Highlights from their performance included “Comin For You” and their cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet With Butterfly Wings.”

Death Valley High took the stage next for a rockin’ set. The band had a heavy sound with electronic elements which went well together. They were also very energetic and are definitely worth checking out if you haven’t heard of them. Highlights from their set included “Ick Switch” and “DVH – The Movie.”

Then it was time for the co-headliners to take the stage. Powerman 5000 was up first and they put on the strongest show of the night. Between the band’s musicianship and frontman Spider One’s singing/stage banter they were definitely on point in all aspects. Highlights from their set included their opening track “Super Villain,” “V Is For Vampire,” and “Bombshell.”

Orgy closed out the night with a sick performance. Singer Jay Gordon was full of energy and was good at keeping the crowd engaged. This was especially seen when he jumped into the crowd and had fans sing Orgy’s cover of New Order’s “Blue Monday” with him. It is worth noting that the newer lineup sounds awesome as well, regardless of how you may feel about Gordon carrying on as the only original member of the group. Highlights from their set included the previously mentioned”Blue Monday,” “Stitches,” and “G Face.”
