Filter Cancel Sweden Show Due To Death Threat

Filter have been out on the road on their “Make Europe Great Again Tour,” and had to call off tonight’s (June 13) show at the Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg, Sweden due to an apparent death threat. The band posted the following on Facebook:

Filter just received a death threat at the club tonight. We will not be performing.

Richard Patrick also added:

“Threats were made to Filter’s well being that were not taken lightly We felt it necessary to cancel and are so sorry to our fans.

After an extremely violent weekend in the United States, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the innocent victims in Orlando as well as Christina Grimmie’s friends and family.”

UPDATE: Andreas Leijon, a representative for the club has since called out the band, and said they overracted after someone told a band member to stop smoking inside the venue “or the owners will kill us.” He also told Aftonbladet that if “there [had] been any danger [they] would have closed the club immediately and not allowed any of the other bands to perform.”

The whole situation seems a bit murky, so it will be hard to determine what really happened. The police were called though, so a report will probably surface at some point.
