Metal Anarchy’s Music In The Age Of COVID-19 Series: Interview With Days To Come

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “Music In The Age Of COVID-19” series, the feature where I discuss the ongoing pandemic with various musicians. This time I have an interview with Jalen Hall of Days To Come.

METAL ANARCHY: How have you been holding up during the coronavirus pandemic?

HALL: I’ve gained all the weight and I’m sad now. I was a shiny star blessed upon the mortal world, but then everything changed when the Rona attacked. Only my weight loss, master of all great pictures could stop it. But when I needed it most, it vanished. Now I’m lumpy.

METAL ANARCHY: Have you been using your downtime to work on new music?

HALL: Absolutely! The boys and I have really taken this time to experiment and really test our creativity with new songs.

METAL ANARCHY: What was the last show you played or attended before the shutdown?

HALL: Back in February we did a three day tour with Silvertung. It was a really great time and we made some awesome friends along the way. I’m looking forward to our next tour with them.

METAL ANARCHY: Are you planning to play any livestream concerts during this time?

HALL: Heck if I know. We’re really trying to set up a game plan for the future. The subtleties and care that must be taken into account when creating our blessing which is music is of utmost importance. So in short… maybe.

METAL ANARCHY: Do you think the live entertainment industry will ever recover?

HALL: It may take some time, but hopefully sometime next year we can get back to some sense of normality.

METAL ANARCHY: Lastly, is there anything fans can do to help your band or others that may be struggling during this time?

HALL: Just show any support you can, tune in to new music, follow bands through social media. If you feel so inclined, maybe even buy some merch. Everything the fans do means the world to us. We can’t wait to see all of you again when shows make a comeback!

Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Days To Come

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Jalen Hall of Days To Come.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

HALL: My name is Jalen Hall and I’m the drummer for the hard rock band Days To Come. Justin Goodson is our vocalist and Brandon Rix is our guitarist. Justin and Brandon have been together since 2013, forming the band in 2014, and I joined last year (2018).

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

HALL: I’ve never had any main influences. Anyone that strives to create and inspire is an influence to me. I do enjoy The Rev, Mike Portnoy, and Joey Jordinson.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

HALL: We just released our single Siren (January 25th). It’s such a fun song to play at shows and, so far, the reaction to it has been great. If you’re a fan of hard rock with clean, melodic vocals, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

HALL: Our live shows are raw energy that you just can’t replicate on an album. We enjoy involving the audience as much as possible.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band in 5 years?

HALL: In five years I would hope to see us headlining a major festival and do yearly world tours.
