Korn bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu has shared more information regarding his decision to step away from the band. The musician, who initially claimed he was taking a break from the group to deal with some “bad habits,” has since revealed that his decision was related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fieldy said the following amid a joint interview with his former L.A.P.D. bandmate Richard Morrill on the Shady Characters podcast:
“COVID happened. That’s it. I’m like, ‘I’m not going out there.’ That’s what happened, ’cause it was new. Now. I’m like… The whole time — I mean, I didn’t get vaccinated or anything — but when you reflect on it, that’s what happened. They’re like, ‘We’re going to Florida and all this.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not going to get vaccinated.’ I’m not going. I go, ‘People, this is weird right now.’
But I mean that’s kind of what happened. But it gave me time to sit, and once you sit, you can reflect and you’re like, you’re kind of just waiting you know to what’s next, ’cause I don’t know what the rest of this day is going to bring. I’m just on fire for whatever, whatever is ready.”
He went on to discuss the perspective he gained from exiting a project he invested years into:
“That’s what it is. You see bands, and bands kind of just go through these motions. This isn’t anything new. I mean, from L.A.P.D. to all these bands. I mean, Chili Peppers have Flea and Anthony [Kiedis], you know? It just happens like that sometimes. A lot of bands — not sometimes, almost every time. It’s rare that all the same [members stay in a band.]
Man, I look back at my life and like, you know, almost 30 years with Korn, that was a blast, man. I mean, it was… I can’t explain it. It’s like you’re going on you’re going to the ultimate [thrill]… It’s not easy. But it is a blast. I don’t look back going, ‘That sucked.’
I mean, I could look at it and complain, but how are you going to complain? That was everything everybody dreams of. And I got to go almost like a vet. I put in 30 years and now here I am. You know? it’s like I’m cool with that.”
He continued when asked if he’s “retired”:
“I’m retired from Korn today, but we’ll see what the day brings tomorrow.”
On another note, Fieldy also commented on a photo that sparked rumors of a new project with Sepultura drummer Greyson Nekrutman and former Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers:
“I’m doing another project. We got two rough songs done with Greyson [Nekrutman] from Sepultura on drums. He’s a sick drummer… He’s like a jazz drummer. He can play the old school jazz way, but fast. Like that guy, that guy’s an insane drummer. He’s one of the sickest drummers I’ve ever worked with. And you know what? Every drummer I worked with is dope. David Silveria, Ray [Luzier, Korn drummer] Mikey [Bordin] from Faith No More and Ozzy, who else did we work with? Brooks Wackerman.”
He also added that him and guitarist Sean Olsen sent a song to Morrill to work on for the “rough project.”
Stitched Up Heart have premiered a new song titled “Beast.” The track, which features Nonpoint’s Elias Soriano, is from the band’s new album, “Medusa,” which will be released on June 12. Frontwoman Alecia “Mixi” Demner commented:
“’Beast’ is my inner monster finally getting off the leash and going full Frankenstein in a graveyard. It’s that part of me that’s been politely caged up for years, but now is chugging adrenaline and demanding a mosh pit. The track feels like summoning a zombie monster truck, with riffs that sound like the revving engines of dirt bikes, flipping over tombstones, & layered screams like frosting on a horror cake. The song is even better with Elias (of Nonpoint)’s raw vocal performance. No more hiding the chaos, just unleashing it. The world’s been way too polite lately, and I felt it needed something that screams, ‘Wake up and dance in the dirt!’ It’s got that graveyard smash vibe, fun yet feral. Plus, after holding back the beast for so long, why tease? Unleash the monster mash and let the screams begin!”
Show Me The Body have premiered a new video for their new song “Dance In The USA.” You can check out that clip below:
Vocalist Julian Cashwann Pratt commented:
“‘Dance in the USA’ is about how we implore style to survive in this reality. It’s how we embrace the struggle of ourselves, our family’s, and those around you. It’s the dance that we all do — how we hustle, the good and the bad things we do – just to get through it.”

Your Spirit Dies have announced a new EP titled “It Is Well…” The effort will be released on May 22 and it can be pre-saved HERE.
“It Is Well…” Track Listing:
01. “Starless“
02. “When Peace, Like A River“
03. “Whispers In Omen“
Vocalist Brandon Byars commented:
“With this new material, we’ve settled into what we’ve sought for several years. The intention of Your Spirit Dies was never to be simply pastiche, but to take the influences that shaped us early on and view them through a modern lens and I think we’ve succeeded. It’s heavy, dark, melodic, and everything that YSD should be.
Working with producer Randy Leboeuf on this project was awesome. We went with a decent amount of demo material to pick and choose from and only really used two or three parts. A lot of the writing came really naturally, and we had these songs in their final forms in a matter of a couple of days.”
A video for the first single, “Starless,” can be found below. Byars added the following about that:
“We tried to do a short concept with this release, again utilizing religious imagery. ‘Starless‘ is the first part of a two-part story focusing on the aftermath of those condemned to exist on earth in an Armageddon-like event. To be clear, this is not a ‘turn to God’ story from Sunday school. If anything, it retains a message of questioning and doubt of an all-loving God who’d leave his beloved creation in ‘the starless dark.’”

As previously reported, Christian metalcore singer Magdalene Rose was recently facing boycotts from several churches over her heavy music and looks. The attacks on her resulted in shows being cancelled amid her tour with fellow Christian artists Seventh Day Slumber, Jason Dunn (Hawk Nelson), and Nate Parrish (Kutless). However, she has since received an apology from at least one youth pastor.
Rose said the following:
“Hey guys, it’s Magdalene Rose, and I have a really, really cool update. It’s cooler than the news articles, cooler than the numbers, cooler than whatever has been going on throughout this whole process.
If you’ve been keeping up, I made a post about a cancellation we had due to the way I looked. Just also expressed my frustration over the years of getting calls of cancellations because of people saying that I couldn’t be Christian because of my clothes or the makeup that I wear or the music that I make.
Normally, I don’t get a chance to explain myself or any sort of communication from any of these churches, and it’s really awesome because yesterday I got a message from the youth pastor that canceled the show. His wife sent me a screenshot of the message that he wanted to send, and it was a really heartfelt apology explaining that he wished he would’ve done things differently and, you know, acknowledging that there are people that are being reached through this music and just hoping that I could forgive him.
I just wanted to say how big of a deal that is. It’s really easy to make a post and then for news outlets to share it and for people to get on and argue and just talk about the drama of it all, but a lot of times you don’t really see a resolution, and I think especially being a Christian, that’s a really big part of these conversations, and that’s what I hoped would happen when I shared that post online. It wasn’t me trying to go viral or trying to church bash or trying to whatever, like bring attention to my page. I was hoping that people would see that and some sort of change happen.
It’s so awesome because you guys rallied around not just me, but my band. You know, my husband’s in the band, our best friends Zach and Weston are in the band. It’s a whole family out here, and you’ve rallied around all of us and carried us through this season. Even if it seemed short-lived, this stuff has been going on for a long time, and so I really appreciate all of you guys just rallying around us.
Change happens when people speak out and all of you have been sharing your stories. All of you have been offering encouragement. I think it’s so awesome to see this happen in real time and I think that’s the first apology I’ve ever been offered when it comes to situations like this. It’s so important to see that resolution can happen. We can discuss things despite our differences. Change is happening.
I’ve received messages from people saying that they’re willing to give church a shot again. It’s the first time they’re going to church in years, but if all of these people in the comments really do believe what they’re saying, maybe they can belong in church too.
And I’ve gotten messages from people on the opposite side of it apologizing to me because they’ve realized the judgment they have had in their hearts and are trying to change the way they view people. And I think that’s so awesome to not just see change happen with one person, but to see the ripple effect of all of this and what started out as something super frustrating, God has just moved completely.
I hope this update encourages people. Things can be solved. Things can change. It all comes from just having a conversation and being willing to speak up. I thank you guys so much for being willing to speak up on my behalf.”

The Damned commented:
“The band are excited to announce the USA instalment of our Final Damnation 50 tour.. and yes, we’re calling it Final Damnation because, bearing in mind the advanced years of the participants it’s fairly unlikely we’ll undertake anything quite like this again.
There’s the small matter of pride involved too.. in that the performance of this classic material has to reflect the genuine passion and raunch of the original recordings otherwise it just ain’t worth doing.
The band are playing so well at the moment too.. we’re going to be performing an eclectic setlist chosen from right across the Damned’s career.
Where on earth does time go.. it seems like only yesterday we were knocking out New Rose in a dingy converted garage in Islington.
