Flotsam And Jetsam Drummer Ken Mary To Sit Out Band’s European Tour

Flotsam And Jetsam drummer Ken Mary will be missing the band’s European tour after being “pulled off [a] flight to Europe for having a passport that expires in 72 days.” During his absence, Marco Prij (Distillator) will be filling in.

The band commented:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Flotsam And Jetsam will be unable to perform at [Germany’s] Metal Frenzy Festival on June 10. Our drummer, Ken Mary, was pulled off of our flight to Europe for having a passport that expires in 72 days. Although it is a valid passport, to enter the EU requires 90 days to be left on the passport before traveling there. This is a technicality that none of us were aware of. For the remaining dates, we will complete the tour with our long time friend and remarkable drummer Marco Prij from the band Distillator.

Although Flotsam And Jetsam takes every precaution to adhere to all travel regulations, this was unfortunately unknown to us.

We apologize for this missed opportunity with our fans, and deeply regret not being able to perform for you at Metal Frenzy. We thank you so much for your understanding and support.”

“We had almost finished the entire record when this one popped up. We knew from the sheer intensity of the piece we were going to have to add it to the album, even though we had tons of great songs already. It ended up becoming the title track. It’s one of the most aggressive Flotsam songs ever and the video is just an extension of the song.”

Flotsam And Jetsam Premiere “Burn The Sky” Music Video

Michael Gilbert On New Flotsam And Jetsam Album: “It’s Like ‘The End Of Chaos’ On Steroids”

During a recent interview with The Metal Voice, Flotsam And Jetsam guitarist Michael Gilbert confirmed that the band are pretty much done with their new album. According to him, the effort will be “like ‘The End Of Chaos’ on steroids.”

Gilbert said the following about the record:

“It was supposed to come out in January [2021]; that was what the plan was. It’s done — everything’s done except for the artwork at this point, because we knew we weren’t gonna be able to do a January release, and it got pushed back to June. So we stopped doing the white-knuckle recording and just kind of started taking our time with the mixes and stuff like that. It’s completed, except for a couple of artwork things that we’re gonna do. I think we’re gonna be releasing a video here pretty soon — a lyric video for the first single. So, maybe February — look for that in February, or maybe March.”

He also added the following about the musical direction:

“Well, this is the absolute perfect follow-up to ‘Chaos’. We couldn’t have planned it any better. We all basically put on our work boots, or whatever, and we started writing, and it ended up coming out… It’s like ‘The End Of Chaos’ on steroids, basically. I think you guys are gonna love it, man.”
