The Darkness Premiere New Song “Easter Is Cancelled”

The Darkness have premiered a new song titled “Easter Is Cancelled.” This is the title track of the band’s new album, which will be released on October 4. It’s worth noting that cover art for the effort has been banned by various platforms due to religious reasons. As a result, the below clip contains the original artwork and a censored version.

Rufus “Tiger” Taylor commented:

“That was the last song we wrote for the album. We needed a fast one. So Dan and I were given that challenge. We had a day of jamming. It was one of those things where we just sat down and bang — the first thing we played became the first four bars of the finished song.”

Justin Hawkins added:

“Rufus and Dan came up with this AC/DC boogie thing, except with all these weird, progressive time changes. Lyrically, it’s one of the multiverse ones. You can’t be angry about a multiverse. It makes everything more manageable. You have to be comforted by the fact that there’s a reality somewhere it isn’t all shit. Conversely, when everything is going right, there’s a universe where it isn’t, and you should be grateful.”

The Darkness Premiere “Heart Explodes” Music Video

The Darkness have premiered a new video for their new song “Heart Explodes.” This track is from the band’s new album “Easter Is Cancelled,” which will be released on October 4.

Frontman Justin Hawkins said the following about the “mini-rock opera”:

“It’s about the despair of change. Having to reappraise your life and what you’re holding on to. It’s like that feeling when you just want to go for a swim and keep going. Wanting to be enveloped by something that will gradually pull you down. If you really, really want to survive that process, you can. We’ve all been there — people who say they haven’t are lying.”

Guitarist Dan Hawkins added:

“The difference between The Darkness’ sadness and other bands’ sadness is that we don’t wallow in it. Even when it’s sad, there’s a playfulness to it.”

The Darkness Premiere “Rock And Roll Deserves To Die” Music Video

The Darkness have premiered a new video for their new song “Rock And Roll Deserves To Die.” This track is from the band’s new album “Easter Is Cancelled,” which will be released on October 4. Frankie Poullain commented:

“A lot of bands have relinquished their duty. Rock and roll is so uniform now. Everybody dresses the same, looks the same, sounds the same. It’s pathetic. It deserves to die. Let’s kill the cliché. Let’s break the crucifix. That’s partly what the album is about.”
