Guitarist Andy Thomas Exits Black Crown Initiate

Guitarist Andy Thomas has officially exited Black Crown Initiate. A replacement has yet to be revealed.

Thomas said the following:

“It’s been a long, wonderful, crazy journey, and I’d just like to say I am no longer a member of Black Crown Initiate. There is no bad blood whatsoever, and I’d like to thank all our fans, friends and affiliates from all over the world. I’ll see y’all around, for sure!”

Vocalist James Dorton also commented:

“As you might’ve seen on the BCI gram, Andy is no longer with the band. There’s no bad blood. In the decade that’s passed since we started this band with Nick, the man has become like a brother to me, and he will be missed. The rest of the band and I wish him well. BCI has some work to do, but we will continue on. Stay tuned 🤘”

Rivers Of Nihil Part Ways With Guitarist Jon Topore

Rivers Of Nihil have parted ways with guitarist Jon Topore. The band will be playing their upcoming shows with fill-in guitarist Andy Thomas (Black Crown Initiate).

Rivers Of Nihil issued the following statement:

“After nearly eight years of working together Rivers of Nihil has decided to part ways with guitarist Jonathan Topore. Like any relationship, sometimes it becomes clear that it is simply time for a change that will be in the best interest of everyone involved. We love Jon and we still consider him to be a great friend to all of us in the band.

With that being said, we would like to announce that our very old friend Andy Thomas from Black Crown Initiate (and ‘Where Owls Know My Name‘ guest vocal/music video/tambourine fame) will be stepping in for our upcoming headlining tour with Fallujah, Alluvial, and Warforged.

As a fellow Reading, PA area native Andy has been passively and actively involved with Rivers of Nihil since our inception and there is no other person that we trust more than him to take on this position.

We look forward to seeing all of you on tour.”

Antiqva (Ne Obliviscaris, Ex-Cradle Of Filth, Etc.) Premiere New Song “Funeral Crown”

Xenoyr (Ne Obliviscaris), Lindsay Schoolcraft (ex-Cradle of Filth), Fabian Schaper, Justine Ethier (ex-Blackguard), Dalai Cellai, Memnock (Susperia, ex-Old Man’s Child), and Andy Thomas (Black Crown Initiate) have joined forces in a new band called Antiqva. A lyric video for the group’s first single, “Funeral Crown,” can be found below:

Xenoyr commented:

“Music from Antiqva has been a long time coming, but like most good things it required patience and maturing. For obvious reasons this year, our individual main projects were delayed and/or unable to tour so we seized the opportunity to focus largely on developing our sound more, and finally through pandemic and isolation, recorded across 5 countries, we now emerge with our debut track, ‘Funeral Crown’.

In short the song discusses the abuse of power, something we’ve all been exposed to, subjected to or even been a part of, and it paints a picture of the potential consequences. The interest we’ve garnered so far has been overwhelming considering we’re ultimately a brand new band, but we hope this will whet your appetite for what is to come. Thank you to those who’ve followed and supported our journey so far.”

Fans can purchase a limited edition 12 inch featuring “Funeral Crown” and the b-side track “Anadem Gyre” HERE.
