W.A.S.P.’s Dallas, TX Show Gets Shut Down By Fire Department

W.A.S.P.’s November 5 show at Amplified Live in Dallas, TX ended up getting shut down by the Dallas Fire Department. The concert was unable to move forward due to the venue selling 1,200 tickets over capacity.

The band initially said the following:

“The Dallas, Texas promotor oversold tickets for the show tonight at Amplified Live. The Fire Marshall showed up and informed the promoter that the show would not happen unless they removed 600 people from the venue. The band deeply regrets the issues brought on by tonight’s promoter. All we could do was sit on the tour bus waiting for the promotor to resolve the over capacity issue with the Fire Marshall.”

Blackie Lawless later added:

“The Dallas Police Department advised us to leave the venue immediately because they said they could not guarantee our safety. Promoters didn’t think this band could sell tickets in the U.S. anymore, well it goes to show the absolute dedication of our fan base has here in the U. S. We’ll certainly be back, you can bet on that.”

The promotor has since issued a statement as well:

“After the dust settled in Dallas we wanted to make a clarifying statement letting everyone know that Amplified Live did not intentionally over sell the show. There was a clerical error on the venue capacity certificate that didn’t include the entire outdoor venue space. When they rebranded the venue they were issued a new certificate with this omission. While that area is clearly venue space, the Dallas Fire Dept had no choice but to shut down the show because of that reason and the venue will be having a new certificate issued ASAP. Again we are sorry for what happened”

Those in attendance will be receiving refunds.

Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist Chris Holmes Shares New Health Update: “The Doctor Told Me That The Cancer Is Gone'”

Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes has shared a new health update after being diagnosed with throat and neck cancer earlier this year. He says his doctor has since “told [him] that the cancer is gone.”

Holmes said the following:

“I went to the hospital last Monday. They did an MRI on my neck. And it’s been three months since the last radiation I had. Anyway, they did an MRI and I went back Wednesday and they looked at the MRI and the doctor told me that the cancer is gone, which is a positive thing. I’m glad the kind of cancer I had is treatable. A lot of cancer isn’t.

Anyway, as of now, I’m still suffering from all the radiation that was done to my neck. I still can’t taste anything… It’ll probably take six months from right now till my neck’s back to normal.

Last month when I talked, I wasn’t that coherent, because I’d stopped taking morphine June 10th. And let me tell you, the comedown off the morphine was radical; I’d never been through anything like that in my life. You can sleep only an hour a night and then you’re up. And your brain ain’t working right. I really feel sorry for what heroin addicts go through, man. It’s the first time I ever felt the comedown off the morphine.

I’m getting better. I’m probably 65, 70 percent. By next September — it’s July now; 20th or something — September I’m supposed to be, yeah, touring in Canada. Finally, after three years. But, yeah, I’ll be in Canada tearing it up. So be there.”

Blackie Lawless commented:

“With enormous frustration, I’m forced to announce W.A.S.P. must postpone the 2022 European leg of the 40th-anniversary world tour. This hideous pandemic that’s stripped people of their freedom and lives, that’s caused countless artists to cancel or postpone shows for years, once again has reared its vicious head to claim us… again! For years we’ve worked really hard to make this tour our celebration, for not only for the fans, but for all of us involved. I’m sad, mad, tired and pissed off, but I’ll quote from the great W.E. Henley’s poem ‘Invictus’: ‘My head is bloody, but unbowed.’ That’s what I want from all of you, to go beyond this place of pain and loss, and NEVER bow to this THING! Our U.S. dates will continue as planned — BUT — WE WILL see you all next year Europe!!!”

GoFundMe Launched For Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist Chris Holmes Following Recent Cancer Diagnosis

As previously reported, ex-W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes was recently diagnosed with throat and neck cancer. Now, an official GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist him with medical bills. You can donate to that HERE.

Holmes’ drummer Steve Jackson commented:

“Hi Everyone,

This is a tough message to write.

You probably won’t know me but for the past 4 years I have been playing drums for Chris Holmes or you may know him as the ‘Mean Man’.

In the time I’ve spent getting to know Chris, I can assure you this is so far from the truth, as many of you who have met Chris will agree. He has a lot of time for his fans and I wanted to do something to help out after his recent Cancer diagnosis. The medical bills are coming in quickly, as they are working to get Chris the Cancer treatment he needs, as soon as possible.

As he is unable to tour during this time and he is going to have 7 weeks of extensive treatment, he is gonna need a little extra support to help to get himself back to full health and to kick cancers ass!! This is where hopefully you can help out! If you feel you can afford to donate something, I’d be very grateful and I know both Chris and Cathy would be too.

Anything you can give would be a massive help, while he is undergoing his treatment. Please feel free to share this to anyone, you know is a fan or friend of Chris, or of the music he has been a part of during his 40+ year career.

I thank you for all of your kind words that you have sent Chris so far. I know he has seen many of the messages and the extra positivity will help him and Cathy during this tough time. We will keep you updated as treatment progresses.

Steve”

Former W.A.S.P. Guitarist Chris Holmes Diagnosed With Throat And Neck Cancer

Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes has revealed that he has been diagnosed with throat and neck cancer. As a result, he will no longer be performing on the 2022 Monsters Of Rock cruise.

The following statement was issued:

“This post is not easy to write because of the personal nature of it and we would rather you hear it directly from us before stories and rumours start to circulate and by respect for all of you who love and support Chris , we feel that this is exactly what we need at this time. Recently Chris was diagnosed with a cancer in throat and neck but the medical team have assured us there has been no metastasis and this is a good news . He will have to start as soon as possible a treatment of 7 weeks

I know how important the Monsters of Rock Cruise is for Chris and the band but the health of Chris is what we have to focus on right now for the next 7 weeks and we will reschedule the MORC for a future date. Thank You very much Larry Morand for your kindness & understanding in this matter, you are much appreciated and the world need more people as you . Thank you also to all the team who make a wonderful work following every band in each step

The bandcamp will still continue to run during this time but if there might be some delays please forgive me .
The best way to keep Chris positive is to continue to focus on the upcoming Canadian tour, shows we have in September and the UK tour in October. Don’t forget Chris is strong and he is a fighter and he will come back stronger than before.

Many of you in your own way shows us everyday how much you care,we are lucky to have you as friends, your strength keeps our spirits high to continue to fight another day.

Please we just ask for some privacy while we deal with this at this moment and Chris will come back to you stronger and ready to burn the stage with Stephen, Ollie,Lex and Florian

Keep rocking

W.A.S.P.’s Blackie Lawless Is “Leaning In The Direction Of” Performing “Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)” Live Again

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” W.A.S.P.’s Blackie Lawless was asked about the possibility of the band performing “Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)” on the band’s 40th anniversary tour. He responded by saying he is “leaning in the direction of doing it.”

Lawless said the following:

“I don’t know [if we will play it]. There’s a part of me that says it’s already out there. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle. Do I owe it to the fanbase to really make this a true retrospect of what we’ve done. If I had to give you an answer right now, I would say I’m leaning in the direction of doing it.”

He continued when asked why he abandoned the track:

“Two reasons. Number one, my religious convictions. [Because of] my Christian faith, I thought, ‘Well, this is not really something that I wanna say.’ But also, there was another reason as well. We were doing more serious material. Do you really want that conflict of messaging going on at the same time. So there was a two-fold reason for it.

We haven’t played that song in quite some time; it’s probably going on 15 years now. But however long it’s been, I think I made my point. So we’re in the process of… We’re discussing [the possibility of bringing it back]; let’s put it that way.”
