According to Rolling Stone, Mindless Self Indulgence’s James Euringer (aka Jimmy Urine) has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor. An anonymous woman filed a lawsuit against the frontman in New York Supreme Court, saying that he engaged in a sexual relationship with her when she was 15 and he was 27.
The woman says the relationship took place from January 1997 to June 1999 and that Euringer “groomed and manipulated [her] into believing that his sexually assaultive behavior was not criminal and that by engaging in sexual activity with him Plaintiff was actually helping to protect younger girls from sexual assaults.” She also claimed that he took naked photos of her and made her “act like a small child, and suck her thumb, drool, and pee in her pants.” Euringer also allegedly tried to downplay their sexual relationship in public.
Rolling Stone also report that Warner Music Group, Warner Communications LLC, Elektra Entertainment Group, and the band’s ex-manager and producer Joseph Galus have been named as defendants in the suit as well. The woman accused Elektra and Galus of “negligence and aiding and abetting sexual battery, and that the two knew about and enabled Euringer’s behavior.” On top of that, the suit also says a photo of the girl was used on a band t-shirt that was developed by Elektra and that Elektra‘s A&R and Galus even witnessed Euringer engaging in a relationship with her in the studio. The following was said about that:
“With their knowledge, relationship to Euringer, and control over Euringer, his shows, his music, and at times his access to minors, Defendants had the opportunity and ability to stop Euringer’s sexual assaults, and to protect Plaintiff and others, but did not. As a result, Plaintiff has suffered humiliation, shame, and horror that she will continue to suffer for the rest of her life.”

James Euringer, aka Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence), has premiered a new video for his cover of The Doobie Brothers’ “What A Fool Believes.” This track appears on Euringer’s recently release solo album. That effort features members of System Of A Down, My Chemical Romance, etc.
“I love the keyboard and synth groove in the original version, but it’s too goddamn slow. So I amped it up without losing the great melody, and man did I knock it out of the park! Probably the best thing is if you listen to my version, you can’t go back to the original—it’s so freaking slow after you hear mine. Yacht rock has great melodies and uses a lot of great keyboards and early ’70s synths, but it must be made faster, and I am just the guy to do it.”
He also added the following about the video:
“I wanted to do a throwback to sleazy New York City, the swingers era circa 1979—the time of Midnight Blue and Al Goldstein, and Plato’s Retreat which was a famous swingers club in the neighborhood I grew up in. As you see in this video, I can still dance like a motherfucker and act crazy at 50. I’m not sure if that is cool or embarrassing, but who fucking cares? Not this old man.”
James Euringer, aka Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence), has premiered a new song titled “If It Ain’t You Today It Will Be You Tomorrow,” via Revolver. The track features System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian and it will appear on Euringer’s new solo album, which is set to be released on October 19.
Tankian said the following about the track, which is partly inspired by Rev. Martin Niemöller’s famous anti-Nazi sermon, ‘First They Came For The Socialists…‘:
“Jimmy and I have been friends for years and I was excited to collaborate with him on his record.
We’re both fans of nutty witty humor, so when he told me to just go off with whatever words come to mind, I grabbed some poetry book titles of mine I had in the vocal booth and randomly spewed them off in the mic.
He then cut the ones he liked and mixed them. His record is bombastic and diverse, unlike most shit out there.”
Furthermore, Euringer also talked about his and Tankian’s Fuktronic project:
“Yeah, we’ve got a project called Fuktronic. It’s basically an animated, electronic English gangster cartoon that we’ve been working on for a while. It’s just a lot of fun, just a departure from music. All my side works have been fun and stuff I’d want to do on my own.
Our dynamic is very chill, which is why we do this kind of stuff, especially because, with Fuktronic, it’s electronic type soundtrack music, which we’ve both been doing a lot of on our own. So we really talk a lot about that and dig soundtrack work and dig composing and movies and that. In that sense, I think we love talking about that and plugins! We love to talk about plug ins until the cows come home. [Laughs]”
James Euringer, aka Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence), has premiered a new song titled “Sailor In A Life Boat,” via Alternative Press. The track features My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way and it will appear on Euringer’s new solo album, which is set to be released on October 19.
“The thing about this record that really blew me away is how experimental it is. Knowing Jimmy, I didn’t simply expect a Mindless 2.0 record, but nothing really prepared me for just how out there he got with this one.
It’s exciting. Yes, it has hooks that he is great at writing, [and] yes, it is fun and dancey at times, but [it’s] also really bold and different. Jimmy stretched himself in new and interesting ways, which was awesome to hear—expect the unexpected with this one.”
“The meaning of the song is that I’m very comfortable being alone and being by myself. I have always been that way, and I think that a lot of people are not comfortable with being alone socially.
That led me to the ‘sailor in a life boat’ lyric. I can be alone for long periods. Obviously I couldn’t live without my wife, and I love my close friends and family. But I am also totally fine hanging out by myself, and I have been that way since I was a kid.”

“I was having fun exploring my brain. And I wanted to invite my friends to have fun with me immersing myself in another time and space, bit by bit, gaining its form from my daily life into a surreal stream of consciousness. More specifically, I wanted it to sound as if Depeche Mode hired J. Dilla and DJ Premier to drop loops while Frank Zappa produced, and then I came in and shit all over it.”
