Heilung’s hiatus has come to an end. The band’s return will be marked by a new album featuring the material they recorded for the video game “Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga.” That effort is titled “Sagas” and it will be available on December 11. A video for the first single, “Læknisgaldr,” can be found below:
Kai Uwe Faust commented on the album:
“’Sagas’ holds a special place in Heilung’s discography. The ideas that we composed and developed with Ninja Theory for ‘Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga’ soon took on a life of their own after Chris, Maria and I came home from a formative 10-day journey through Iceland. The landscape of the country helped shape the sonic identity of the material and inspired us to write far more than could be used in the game. The pieces collected on ‘Sagas’ and ‘Ambient’ now stand on their own and can be experienced as fully realized Heilung music. After almost eight years since its creation, we are grateful to finally be able to share this material and present it to our listeners as part of our creative journey.”
The group also added the following about the song:
“The first sound you hear on ‘Læknisgaldr’ was not made by anything from our reality. During the recording process, somehow, while playing with real human bones and breath, we managed to capture a ghost in the studio!”

In other news, Heilung have also announced a 2027 Australian/New Zealand tour with Lilith Max. The band said the following about that:
“It is with great honour that we can reveal the first performances after our long hiatus will commence Down Under. Even more so because the first time we set our bare feet on stage again will be in the beautiful halls of the Sydney Opera House.
Only a few Danish acts have managed to perform within these famous walls, and we are proud to become part of that legacy.
From Sydney, we will once again travel across Australia and finish with one single performance in Aotearoa / New Zealand. Some of these places we have already visited before; others will be new to us. We are counting on better weather in Brisbane this time; those of you who were there will know what we mean!
Once again, we will also have the honour of sharing the ritual and dance with First Nations people of these lands, meeting old and new friends and honouring the local spirits together.”
Tour Dates:
