Wormrot Holding Open Auditions For New Vocalist

Wormrot are holding worldwide auditions in an effort to find a replacement for ex-vocalist Arif Suhaimi. Interested fans can send an email to wormrot.official@gmail.com with the following subject line: “WR AUDITION YOUR NAME.”

Rasyid Juraimi issued the following statement:

“We’re looking for an extreme metal vocalist preferably with a range of vocal styles (low/mid/high screams, hardcore, powerviolence, etc. no inhales). However, it is NOT a strict requirement as we’re also looking out for unique voices. ALL genders are welcomed.

We require videos with clear audio of you singing live to at least five of our songs from VOICES. The more videos you take, the better. Please do not ‘perform’ for us. Additionally, a press kit and/or links to your past works and performances will also be helpful.

Submit your queries and application to wormrot.official@gmail.com with the title ‘WR AUDITION YOUR NAME’. All applications will be kept confidential.

Arif Suhaimi Exits Wormrot

Arif Suhaimi has announced his departure from Wormrot. The vocalist’s wife Azean, who previously worked as the group’s manager, also parted ways with the band.

Arif and Azean commented:

“It is with a heavy heart to announce that I, Arif, and Azean have parted ways with Wormrot.

We’ve thought about it for some time before coming to a final decision. We’ve been going through a lot of personal hardships and it’s taken a toll on our mental health and well-being. This is for the best.

There are many other factors that are just too personal to share. Certain issues have become priorities that we just can’t avoid. It’s going to take us some time to recover. It was a difficult decision but our family is our priority and we do not wish to hold the band back.

Also, I have to stop pretending that I am still interested being in the band. It feels wrong and disrespectful to Rasyid and Vijesh whom I regard as part of my family. The best people I have ever worked musically with.

Thank you for your amazing love and support for the past 15 years. Thank you for believing in me. Past members, friends near and far, and promoters who’ve hosted us. Azean and I have been in the band since Day 1 in 2007 and these memories are embedded in us until the end of time.

We wish nothing but the best to Wormrot and their future endeavours. HISS is my final album.

Good times.

– Arif and Azean”

The band added:

“We thank Arif for devoting 15 years of his life to Wormrot. We also thank Azean for being the reliable mother of the band throughout the years. It must have been a difficult decision to make, but one we wholeheartedly respect. Thank you Arif and Azean for the unforgettable memories. We wish happiness to your family.

Lastly, we apologise to everyone for taking our time releasing this news. As much as we try to find the right time not to affect or interfere with the promotion and release of our upcoming album, there really is no right time. We seek your understanding and patience as we handle this to our best ability, and most importantly respect for the decision made by Arif and Azean.

As of 1st June 2022, Wormrot will continue without Arif.

Thank you.

– Rasyid and Vijesh“

Wormrot Share New Video For “Grieve,” “Weeping Willow,” & “Voiceless Choir”

Wormrot have shared a new video for their new songs “Grieve,” “Weeping Willow,” and “Voiceless Choir.” Those tracks are from the band’s new album “Hiss,” which will be released on July 8.

The group said the following about “Weeping Willow”:

“‘Weeping Willow‘ tells the tale of a father who will do everything he can to protect his son, whether in this life or the next. The song introduces a new palette of sounds not often associated with grindcore, including nightmarish strings courtesy of 18-year old violinist Myra Choo, illustrating that Wormrot continue to push the boundaries of the genre with their most impressive offering to date.”

They also added the following about the video:

“Combining three songs to tell a single continuous story, this trilogy portrays the unnamed protagonist’s vengeance on the corrupt cops who plotted the murder of her lover. We pay tribute to ’70s Japanese crime movies and two of Singapore’s own TV series ‘Triple 9‘ and ‘Crimewatch‘ which we grew up watching.”
