Nothing More Team Up With Flyleaf’s Lacey Sturm For New Version Of “Best Times”

Nothing More have joined forces with Flyleaf’s Lacey Sturm for a new version of their song “Best Times.“ You can find a video for that track below. The original version of the song is from Nothing More‘s latest album “Spirits.“

Nothing More’s Jonny Hawkins commented:

“This song is a real special one. It’s definitely one of the most positive feel-good songs we’ve ever written and it obviously stands out on the album by being that ray of hope too. I didn’t think it could get any better, but when we thought about featuring another singer and Lacey’s name came up it was a no-brainer.

She’s been a shining light and is one of those singers that makes you feel and believe every word out of her mouth whether you agree with it or not. We knew her voice would take it over the top… and that’s exactly what she did! We couldn’t be more proud to have her collaborate with us on this and to get it out to the world for everyone to feel and embrace when you need a song to help get you through.”

Sturm added:

“I connected with Jonny‘s story about his family struggles with his mother and sister. I love the painful beauty in any art that comes from wrestling with mental health and addiction. I’ve always looked for common ground with artists who deal with suicide prevention. My own struggle against self-destruction is also a struggle to not tear my loved ones apart.

There is a perspective shift in this song. Like a suffocating cloud, the heaviness of life turns to thankfulness and even joy over what matters most. Pain and loss can turn the lights on inside us, allowing us to see the good, all the ‘Best Times,’ we couldn’t see before. I’m relieved to be reminded by this song to remember what matters most and find gratitude. I need it.”

In other news, Nothing More are also planning to livestream their April 9 set at Irving Plaza in New York City, NY. Tickets for the virtual event are available through Veeps.

Nothing More Share Piano Version Of “You Don’t Know What Love Means” Featuring Taylor Acorn

Nothing More have shared a piano version of their song “You Don’t Know What Love Means.” This version of the track features Taylor Acorn and it can be found below. The original version appears on the band’s latest album “Spirits.” Acorn commented:

“When I had first heard the original version, I instantly fell in love, so when Nothing More asked me to be a part of the piano version it was truly a no brainer. The song is so beautiful and touches on a very similar situation that I was going through in a previous relationship of mine, so it was super easy to connect with. I also love how much, at least to me, the song resembles early Evanescence, which is one of my favorite bands of all time. It’s beautiful, it’s powerful, and I hope people love it as much as I do.”

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their new song “Best Times.” This track is from the band’s newly released album “Spirits.” Jonny Hawkins commented:

“This song is a living reminder to live in the now. Often the best times of our lives escape us, unrecognized and unappreciated in the moment. It’s not until time passes that our mind reveals what our heart always knew.”

Nothing More Premiere “You Don’t Know What Love Means” Music Video

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their new song “You Don’t Know What Love Means.” This track is from the band’s new album “Spirits,” which will be released on October 14. Vocalist Jonny Hawkins commented:

“We’re glad this song is finally getting out there so we can dig into the emotional and intimate side of the album. The lyrics and tone of this one feels like it hits in a similar way that ‘Go To War’ and ‘Jenny’ did. It’s going to feel huge playing this next one on tour.”

Nothing More Digitally Release Extended Version Of “Tired Of Winning / Ships In The Night”, Announce “Spirits Vol. 1” Graphic Novel

Nothing More have digitally released an extended version of their song “Tired Of Winning / Ships In The Night.” The track will appear on the band’s new album “Spirits“ (out October 14) and the soundtrack for the upcoming film “The Retaliators” (out September 14).

In other news, the band have also announced that they have teamed up with Z2 Comics for a new graphic novel titled “Spirits Vol. 1.” The book, which was written by Dan Watters and illustrated by Christian Rosado, is expected to be released in spring 2023. Jonny Hawkins commented:

“The comic book focuses on four of the Spirit Types. As we were making the album, I came up with the concept for the Spirits Test. Imagine if the zodiac had a baby with the Meyers Briggs personality test, and that baby came out with a fascination with cryptic iconography and metal music… that is this test. Each of us has a Spirit Type and this comic book is an artistic expression of how those Spirit Types come to life in a world very much like our own.”

Mark Vollelunga added:

“I set forth on this collaboration with Z2 comics, and our manager, Will Hoffman, with the idea to expand the Nothing More world and allow the reader to dive deeper down the rabbit hole and elaborate on what these Spirit Types mean; where they came from and why they exist. We wanted to write stories that invoke a compelling sense of empathy and wonder while maintaining a very personal connection to Nothing More songs.

Dan Watters was the perfect dude for the job. He’s such a brilliant, captivating writer. Both of us shared inspiration from shows like The OA and Sense 8 and we wanted to accentuate the differences all people have when something in your life wrecks you… and that even though these differences may seem polarizing, we all still need each other. It’s because of these differences that you learn to survive and grow. This story shows that great strength and mutual respect come to those who learn how to embrace one another despite such differences.”

Nothing More Premiere New Song “Spirits”

Nothing More have premiered a lyric video for the title track of their new album “Spirits.” That effort will be released on October 14.

Vocalist Jonny Hawkins commented:

“Isn’t it interesting that we give the same name to something holy and something wholly intoxicating? The song ‘Spirits‘ describes that very conundrum. When you drink liquor, it has been said that you are welcoming that pneuma (spirit) into your body. Most of us have seen and experienced how alcohol (or rather ‘al-ghawl,’ which means demon/spirit) can make us feel.

It’s almost as if we turn into someone else when too much of the spirit has been consumed. Sometimes it’s eye opening and can lead to wondrous life-changing conversations or bonds that would never normally happen…and sometimes it can lead to the exact opposite. It may turn us into Dr. Hyde’s Jekyll and cause us to do or say horrific things we would never normally do sober. Spirits are both a little bit heavenly and a little bit sick.”

“Spirits” Track Listing:

01. “Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire)”

Nothing More Premiere “Tired Of Winning” Music Video

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their new song “Tired Of Winning.” Jonny Hawkins commented:

“We find ourselves in the same position humanity has found itself over and over again… at the end of a series of self made problems. When we wake up to this, we realize that we are our own worst enemy, yet we focus so much of our energy on externalizing our problems. This song is a bird’s eye view of human nature.”

Nothing More Premiere “Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire)” Music Video

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their latest single “Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire).” That track will appear on the band’s upcoming album. Jonny Hawkins previously told Billboard the following:

“Something we’ve always pushed for as a band is to question everything. And I think we’ve just gone through a period where it had been unfashionable to question things. Because if you did, you were the pariah, you were the outcast, the other. For the last few years, I’ve felt like an animal in a cage, just pacing, and my teeth are showing more. I had nowhere to vent that rage and that frustration until we put it into this song. I think a lot of people feel this way. You saw it spill over into riots and protests. There’s all this stuff just pent up inside people. Thankfully, we’re going back out on the road soon, so I’ll have somewhere to put it.”
