Nothing More Premiere New Song “Spirits”

Nothing More have premiered a lyric video for the title track of their new album “Spirits.” That effort will be released on October 14.

Vocalist Jonny Hawkins commented:

“Isn’t it interesting that we give the same name to something holy and something wholly intoxicating? The song ‘Spirits‘ describes that very conundrum. When you drink liquor, it has been said that you are welcoming that pneuma (spirit) into your body. Most of us have seen and experienced how alcohol (or rather ‘al-ghawl,’ which means demon/spirit) can make us feel.

It’s almost as if we turn into someone else when too much of the spirit has been consumed. Sometimes it’s eye opening and can lead to wondrous life-changing conversations or bonds that would never normally happen…and sometimes it can lead to the exact opposite. It may turn us into Dr. Hyde’s Jekyll and cause us to do or say horrific things we would never normally do sober. Spirits are both a little bit heavenly and a little bit sick.”

“Spirits” Track Listing:

Nothing More Premiere “Tired Of Winning” Music Video

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their new song “Tired Of Winning.” Jonny Hawkins commented:

“We find ourselves in the same position humanity has found itself over and over again… at the end of a series of self made problems. When we wake up to this, we realize that we are our own worst enemy, yet we focus so much of our energy on externalizing our problems. This song is a bird’s eye view of human nature.”

Nothing More Premiere “Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire)” Music Video

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their latest single “Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire).” That track will appear on the band’s upcoming album. Jonny Hawkins previously told Billboard the following:

“Something we’ve always pushed for as a band is to question everything. And I think we’ve just gone through a period where it had been unfashionable to question things. Because if you did, you were the pariah, you were the outcast, the other. For the last few years, I’ve felt like an animal in a cage, just pacing, and my teeth are showing more. I had nowhere to vent that rage and that frustration until we put it into this song. I think a lot of people feel this way. You saw it spill over into riots and protests. There’s all this stuff just pent up inside people. Thankfully, we’re going back out on the road soon, so I’ll have somewhere to put it.”

Nothing More Share In-Studio Acoustic Performance Of “Fade In / Fade Out”

Nothing More have shared an in-studio acoustic performance of their song “Fade In / Fade Out.“ This version of the track was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England.

Mark Vollelunga commented:

“Earlier this year I approached the guys about doing an acoustic version of ‘Fade In / Fade Out‘. I wanted to really lean into the timeless nature of the song and the historic, legendary Abbey Road Studios seemed like the ideal place for a new rendition.

We were in the same room that Pink Floyd did ‘Dark Side of the Moon‘. As soon as we entered the studio we all felt the presence of greatness in that place. And like The Beatles said ‘Love is old, Love is new. Love is all, Love is you.’ The vibe there is strong.”

Nothing More “100 Percent Focused” On New Album In 2020

During a recent interview with North Dakota’s 95.9 KRFF, Nothing More’s Mark Vollelunga talked a bit about the band’s new album plans. According to him. the group will be “100 percent focused on the next record” in 2020.

Vollelunga said the following:

“I’m just really excited with a lot of the new material we have going on and just ready to get back in there. We’ve set up a horrible type of jam room in these dressing rooms or locker rooms of hockey arenas on this tour already, and it’s been fun just making noise again. It’s time to create.”

He also added the following when asked about their 2020 plans:

“We’re 100 percent focused on the next record. We’re excited. We did, I forget how many shows last year, I think it was over 150. We were gone about 250 days. We played most countries that speak English, so the tours have been an awesome experience. It’s going to feel great to finally put that down and put all of our attention on what’s to come.”

Nothing More Premiere “Fade In/Fade Out” Music Video

Nothing More have premiered a new video for their song “Fade In/Fade Out.” This track is from the band’s latest album “The Stories We Tell Ourselves.“

Frontman Jonny Hawkins commented:

“When I sing this song I daydream about about my childhood… the days before my parents were broken apart by cancer. I think about how my dad taught me to throw a ball. I think about how my mom taught me to tie my shoes. I think about how my dad would always say ‘hard work pays off’ trying to teach me a lesson while I was focused on a video game, too young to care.

I remember my mother consoling me when I threw a paint brush to the ground, frustrated by an unintended slip of the hand. I will never forget what she said, ‘Jonny, it’s not a mistake, there are no such things as mistakes, just creative opportunities.’ I think about the first moment I realized that they wouldn’t be here forever. I think about how thankful I am.”

Guitarist Mark Vollelunga added:

“I got the idea for this song when my wife and I finally agreed on the name of our son — Fenix. I can only hope that my fire continues to burn in him long after I fade out — the same fire my father passed onto me. May we all remember our parents and never leave words or feelings left unsaid. Don’t let it be too late…”
