Madball Say Their Upcoming New York Show Will Be Their Last In The City For Awhile Due To Vaccine Mandates

For those unaware, New York City will be implementing vaccine mandates for all “leisure indoor activities” on August 16 with full enforcement starting on September 13. The move is a smart one considering the pandemic is worsening as people continue to refuse to get vaccinated. However, it appears Madball have taken issue with the idea and will no longer be performing in the city after their August 14 show at Irving Plaza.

The band said the following:

“Heads up NYC : We’ve been asked a bunch if Irving is still happening… the answer is YES! That said, in light of the new rules that will be implemented in the city, this will likely be the last show we play here for a very long time. Sad to say. We truly respect whatever decisions people make with their bodies but we cannot in good conscience play shows that require personal/private medical information(like vaccination status) for entry. We have a special set list we’re working on. This show will be bittersweet.. let’s make it memorable! There’s still some tickets available in the link☝️.. grab em up while you can! #weloveyounyc #fight #tryanny #hclives”

This news comes after Madball, Murphy’s Law, Bloodclot, and more previously caused controversy after playing a massive show at New York City’s Tompkins Square Park back in April. That event violated various COVID-19 safety protocols that were in place at the time.

New York City Parks Department Revokes Permits For Seven Outdoor Hardcore Shows Following Madball, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, Etc. Concert

As previously reported, a massive Madball, Murphy’s Law, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, and The Captures show at New York City’s Tompkins Square Park was being investigated by the New York City Department Of Parks and Recreation due to violations of safety protocols that were put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, it has been revealed that the permits for seven upcoming hardcore shows have been revoked. Like the aforementioned show, all of the future events were being organized by Black N’ Blue Productions.

The following was reported by Gothamist:

“Altogether, the Parks Department has revoked permits for seven upcoming events by this organizer. That includes two events that had already been approved: another hardcore show planned for May 8th, featuring Antidote NYHC, Kings Never Die, and the Last Stand, and a Memorial Day rally on May 22nd. There were five other pending events (all listed as ‘rallies’ and all stating attendance would be 100 people) revoked, including a pair of dates commemorating the Tompkins Square Park Riot in August, and a Halloween Rally in October, according to the Parks Department.

“‘These guys misrepresented their intentions on their application, and Parks rightfully took action,’ said Mitch Schwartz, a spokesperson for the mayor’s office.”

Gothamist also shared an excerpt from the application for the previous show, which seemingly confirms that it was listed as a “September 11 memorial.” However, Black N’ Blue Productions has since denied that once again:

“The news has released a small snippet of a permit application apparently without showing anything else about if it’s the correct date or even the correct application holder. However if this was done by Bnb it would be demanded that they show the whole entire application and not just a tiny little Schmidt of it. However we can assure you that this is irrelevant regardless. Due to the fact that black and blue has nothing whatsoever to do with the application process. The permit applications are submitted almost a year in advance and held by the applicant Chris. He is to guess 6 to 10 months earlier of the expected attendance and if there is the plan of some sort it is to be included. Then comes Blacknblue in March 2021 months many months after the application has been submitted to decide if there’s a date available that would work with the bands attempting to do an event. We never touch the application nor see it. So to say that it was used as a trick along with the 911 event is a flat out lie twisting of the facts at the least . Chris the application holder has said to us it’s either a mistake on the parts department or a flat out lie. However again it is suspicious that they did not post the whole application and just a tiny little section with no other info that could’ve been Photoshop. Chris said “why the hell would I put down a 911 event in April the year before. If we did it it would be in September. It makes zero sense’”

Footage of Madball, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, and The Captures’ full sets have since surfaced online:

Bloodclot’s John Joseph Responds To Controversy Regarding Recent New York Hardcore Show: “This Was A Pushback Against Government Over Stepping Their Reach”

Bloodclot’s John Joseph has responded to the controversy surrounding a recent hardcore show at New York City’s Tompkins Square Park in which Madball, Murphy’s Law, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, and The Captures reportedly played to nearly 3,000 people amid the coronavirus pandemic. As previously reported, that event is currently under investigation by the New York City Department Of Parks and Recreation due to violations of COVID-19 safety protocols including an ignorance of capacity limits and a lack of social distancing and masks.

Joseph said the following:

“Of course the media tried to put the spin on the show. So people said “It wasn’t a protest – it was bands playing. Comparing that to BLM is insane.” So here is my rebuttal. When I initially approached Cuz to set up a show. This is exactly what was discussed. First and foremost people need some music – lets put a free show on for them. To enjoy getting back to the life we know

Then the conversation immediately went to taking a stand against all the bullshit. Draconian lockdowns, peoples small businesses being destroyed by politicians who don’t even follow their own guidelines. In fact they are total hypocrites. How many of our friends and family lost everything, committed suicide, relapsed into drugs and alcohol, OD and died.

This was a pushback against government over stepping their reach, telling people they cant gather in public, or a church, mosque, temple etc, while they did whatever they wanted. Now Cuomo passing a bill requiring a passport of your medical history to enter certain businesses. Which will become more of a thing – guaranteed.

And finally we have a Governor – caught several times not following his own damn guidelines and who killed over 10,000 seniors in nursing homes, while being a fucking pig to women around him, and a mayor who took in 800 million from tax payers for the homeless – him and his wife gave the $ to their friends charities (of course), and I’m told there’s an investigation into it – especially when the homeless situation is as bad as it was in the seventies and eighties.

So you may not have a dog in this fight – or care – or pay attention or have no problem with whats happening right now – but this is what was said on stage at the show. As musicians we did our job – we spoke up about it – we rallied, we protested, we gigged, unlike these other bands who sold out to the bullshit. Waiting for greedy politicians and corrupted industries and Government organizations bought and paid for to tell them what they can and can’t do.

It was about bringing people together – but of course the media did it’s job & put a spin on it to get clicks and divide people. All in all it was an amazing day – and those who didn’t want to come – didn’t. Those who did – did. Now Im deading this issue.”

Black N’ Blue Productions, who planned the concert, also responded to a report from pix11.com that claimed that the event was billed as a “September 11th memorial” and that it would include a “political rally with music and speakers”:

“I’m sure most people know the media lies almost all the time. But just for shits and giggles the permit says nothing about 911 Memorial on it!! I have the permit in my hand. Fucking asshats . Had look at it again to make sure but there’s nothing on it that says 911 Memorial . Get pix 11 to post it since people suck the dick of the media these days obviously. Permit that we received says nothing of any sort. Cmon you fools … you took that and Swallowed it pretty quick. Sadly not surprised. We see you”

Organizer Chris Flash also commented during an interview with Ev Grieve:

“Nowhere did it say anything about September 11. We did apply for a September 11 memorial event, but it was for September. Why would we apply for a September 11 memorial in April?”

He also added:

“We were given a 3-page list of things the Parks Department wanted us to comply with — we complied with all of the stipulations. We were required to provide gloves, masks, sanitizer and a clipboard if someone wanted to voluntarily provide contact tracing. We provided two tables with all the necessary supplies. We cannot enforce rules, we can’t — we’re not the police. Even the police said they can’t enforce.”

“We put down 100-plus. The application is put in 6 to 12 months ahead of time. At the time we filed, we didn’t know who was going to play. We have the total and utmost reverence for our beloved Tompkins Square Park. It is the last bastion against creeping gentrification. We fought for it: in the media, in the streets and in the courts. We will never trash the park, and we will do everything right and everything in compliance. We have a track record going back to 2006 — every show is without incident.”

Madball, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, Etc. Show At New York City’s Tompkins Square Park Under Investigation Over COVID-19 Capacity Limits

As previously reported, Madball, Murphy’s Law, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, and The Captures played a big show at Tompkins Square Park in New York City on April 24. Now, Gothamist are reporting that the event is under investigation by the New York City Department Of Parks and Recreation due to violations of safety protocols that were put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. This includes exceeding capacity limits and a lack of social distancing and masks. Black N Blue Productions put on the show and nearly 3,000 people were said to have attended. However, New York currently only allows outdoor events to operate with 200 people or 500 with proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. A spokesperson for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation commented:

“This matter is actively being investigated as the permit application filed and agreement appear to have been violated — future permits are in jeopardy.”

Madball, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, Etc. Perform To Thousands In New York Amid The Coronavirus Pandemic

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Madball, Murphy’s Law, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains, and The Captures decided to take part in a big show at Tompkins Square Park in New York City yesterday (April 24). Black N Blue Productions put on the show for free, but attendees were encouraged to donate to the New York City Firefighters Burn Foundation. Nearly 3,000 people were said to have attended, many of which were not wearing masks or social distancing. New York currently allows outdoor events to operate with only 200 people. However that number increases to 500 if people have proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.

Bloodclot‘s John Joseph tried to push back on the controversy surrounding the show:

“Yesterday in Tompkins Square Park well over 2000 peeps came out. Free show for the People by the People. It was a blast! We raised $ for the FDNY Burn Unit, and fed people organic plant based eats.

And let me say this – to all those talking shit. For the last year in NYC there were protests – tens and thousands of people in the streets – some rioting and looting engaging in bias attacks – on 4/20 weed day – thousands filled Washington Square Park – sharing blunts and weed pipes. Nobody said shit. This was our PROTEST – OUR RALLY. People who didn’t want to come – stayed away. Good – nobody missed their ass.

Wanna thank Cousin Joe and The Black-n-Blue crew for doing an amazing job. All the bands killed it The Captures, Wisdom In Chains, Murphy’s Law, and the KINGS of NYHC Madball. PMA was had – smiling faces everywhere – we all needed this! I hope other cities do the same.”

He continued:

“We had close to 3000 people at the show yesterday in Tompkins Square Park – Everyone had a great time – thank you to all the bands that played and thanks to all those who came out I live streamed it for those who couldn’t make it – everybody have a great Sunday”

Wisdom In Chains also commented:

“Yesterday at #tompkinssquarepark in #nyc was a great time. Thank you @bnbproductions for throwing us on and doing all the work with the city to make this event happen. It was our honor to be a part of something that was so obviously special, and from the words of so many there, it was so necessary for so many peoples well being and mental health. Respect to all the other bands who played @madballnyc @bloodclotofficial and @johnjosephcromag @murphyslawnyc and @creepynyc and @thecapturersnyc also respect to all of the staff, the Park officials, and the great city of New York. #photography by @kevinwilsonnyc”
