Drummer Luis Aponte commented:
“The making of the record was nothing short of all-consuming. It was an intense and challenging process. The record reflects a lot of confusion, but also, evolution. There was a lot of uncertainty and emotion during the pandemic– we all changed and grew so much. So if there is a single thought or concept to the record, it’s constant metamorphosis. That’s also how we operated as a band on this LP– spending a lot of time songwriting and fleshing things out as a unit, and then upping our game from there. It’s definitely a reflection of us as more mature, playing the best we’ve ever played and feeling like a real band for the first time.
A big goal on …So Unknown, outside of songwriting and technical goals, was to capture the same energy on record that we have live – for people to get that sense of urgency and danger.”

Jesus Piece have released Ashe Kilbourne’s remix of their song “Punish.” You can check that out below:
The band commented:
“Jesus Piece is always about bridging the gaps of all extreme music facets. A lot that inspires our song writing rarely comes from other contemporary hardcore bands. We as a band are all over the spectrum as far as our music inspirations go. Lu has been a fan of gabber/hardcore techno since he was kid and we all respect and love electronic music, so it only makes sense for us to collab like this. Kilbourne is not only our friend, but one of the only real gabber techno producers coming out of the USA. We trusted her vision with maintaining the energy and rawness of our song. She destroyed it and created a new level of pain.”
Kilbourne added:
“I tried to carry what I love about Jesus Piece into an electronics setting: punishing, relentless, percussion-driven music that pushes you to the edge. To me, metal and hardcore and gabber and speedcore exist on the same spectrum of extreme music, and the fact JP fucks with speedcore makes me stan even harder.”
Jesus Piece have posted a teaser for a new song. The full track will be released on October 30.
Jesus Piece recently played a small show at The Gutter in Brooklyn, NY for Kerrang!. You can see pro-shot footage of that below:
