Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Razorwire Halo

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Razorwire Halo.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

RAZORWIRE HALO: Tak: I created RWH many years ago. It wasn’t until 2012 that we really found our style and sound. We love to experiment with unique sounds and designs while pushing the limits of mainstream music all while keeping the hooks that everyone loves. Each year we continue to grow as a band and expand our sound and cannot wait to share it with our fans.

Darrell: Well, you have some new style Alternative bands, the type to be played in department stores. Then you have these old school Alt bands that you would listen to on the way to the store, at home, or with your friends. That’s more us. You won’t hear us at Walgreens.

Eric: We’re from Kansas City

Rob: That’s what HE said!!!!

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

RAZORWIRE HALO: Tak: I have always been a big fan of Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, Orgy, Smashing Pumpkins, Filter and Soundgarden. Recently, I have been really into acts like Meg Myers, Metric, Julien-K, K.flay, and Silversun Pickups.

Skylar: Mine are Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode.

Darrell: Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, Muse, Butch Walker.

Eric: Snot, Fever Ray, Chevelle, Deftones

Rob: Deftones, Helmet, Tool, and Smashing Pumpkins are the big ones. Way too many to list here!!

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

RAZORWIRE HALO: Darrell: “Red” is the latest single. Yeah, that’s a fun one. We love performing it live, and people are really digging it.

Rob: “Red” is our latest single. If you’re looking for something independent and different from the usual spread, give it a spin!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

RAZORWIRE HALO: Tak: We always try to bring the largest production we can to every show. We want the live experience to transport the listener away from being in a venue and to take them on a journey. Our enhanced 3D projection show blends mind bending visuals with all out energy from every member for the entirety of the show. We leave everything we have on the stage every night.

Skylar: A complete visual and audio experience.

Darrell: People should expect everything a live show can and should be, regardless of ticket price. Minus the pyrotechnics, again, ticket price. The music, videos, and performance all become one stream of emotions that everyone gets to share for an hour or so. It will take you away from life for a bit. Can’t we all use that from time to time?

Eric: Blood, sweat, and tears.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

RAZORWIRE HALO: Tak: This band is a passion and an addiction for me and I don’t see an end in sight. We plan to release new music and tour nonstop while creating the most unique live show we can.

Skylar: Continuing to grow and create!

Darrell: Telling more stories with music. A few more jackets, and probably some new shoes.

Eric: Touring and maybe a lotion commercial.

Rob: An Advil endorsement.
