King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have announced a new album titled “Alien Metal.” The effort is expected to be released later this summer and it will feature EDM-influenced material. A music video for the record’s first single, “Level 5,” can be found below:

Vocalist/guitarist Stu Mackenzie said the following about working with a Eurorack synthesizer:

“It completely rewired my brain. I was like, ‘I’m going to forget everything I know about music and relearn it all from scratch.’”

He continued:

“We’ve never scrapped so much material as we have for this album. Entire albums, entire universes that were formulated, created, recorded, deleted and started again.”

Multi-instrumentalist Joey Walker added:

“‘Alien Metal‘ goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places. And it feels unique – it feels like us, still.”
