Mimi Barks Signs With Century Media

Trap metal artist Mimi Barks has signed a new deal with Century Media Records. With this news, she has also confirmed that her new single “Back Off” will be released on September 4.

Barks commented:

“To be honest, I never wanted to work with a label. Experiences got me thinking they are all crooks. I hate that sassy, know-it-all industry attitude. Tryna enforce their idea of what an artist should look like and deliver musically, making sure it fits right into the charts zeitgeist.

I got the feeling Century Media sees artists and they work with them because they actually fuck with their music, not coz they see potential to mold that person to their liking. If they wouldn’t fuck with the music, they wouldn’t team up. Straight forward and no shit talk. I trust that they won’t interfere, but execute my vision.

Eventually they got me when we were on a night out in Berlin, getting lit till 5AM/6AM, when on our way home they were like, ‘Why we going home? I’d love to go on a rave right now’. It’s a match.”

@frozensoultx announce signing with CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS! Dallas Texas’ #FROZENSOUL lives up to its name as death metal at its coldest and most classic. Now, having stirred the underground with their four song demo-turned-EP “Encased In Ice” (via California’s Maggot Stomp Records) and a string of unforgettable live shows across the US, FROZEN SOUL have inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. “As I've grown and gotten further and further into heavy music, Century Media's rich history in death metal has played a huge role in developing me as a musician: from Grave and Deicide to Blood Incantation and Skeletal Remains we’re honored to be part of that legacy,” says frontman Chad Green. Formed in 2018 by Green and guitarist Michael Munday, who were both also handling caveman duties with local bonecrushers, End Times, FROZEN SOUL immediately picked up a buzz for their filthy, raw sounds and atmospheric live show. Shows opening for Blood Incantation, Gatecreeper, and Obituary helped usher the band into the national light as crowds were left stunned in the band’s icy wake, chilling blue lights and a snow machine addled atmosphere that chilled the Dallas heat. With only their EP to their name, FROZEN SOUL (its lineup now rounded out by bassist Samantha Mobley, second guitarist Chris Bonner and drummer Matt Dennard) hit the road in North America throughout 2019 as well as the dead of Winter 2020, converting crowds much like the march of Game of Thrones’ Night King. “It was a classic case of hard work and vision paying off”, says Century Media US A&R Mike Gitter. “Their influences are classic, but ugly riff for riff, they set themselves apart by being that much heavier.” Says Century Media head Philipp Schulte: „We are very happy to announce the worldwide signing of FROZEN SOUL from Texas. The band got our attention with their excellent demo release “Encased In Ice” that offers death metal in its most primal form – ferocious, straight and brutal. Bands like Grave, Unleashed and Morgoth laid the foundation to Century Media Records. Teaming up with FROZEN SOUL means to solidify this foundation and to carry the torch of real death metal into the future

Lorna Shore Sign With Century Media

Lorna Shore have signed a new deal with Century Media Records. The band’s new album “Immortal” will be released through the label in early 2020.

Drummer Austin Archey said the following about signing with Century Media:

“Signing with Century Media is the beginning of another chapter for us as a band. We came through a lot tough situations: from changing members to even getting this record finished, that only pushed us to become a better band. We’re happy to share that with a label we’ve always respected.”

Guitarist Adam De Micco also added the following about the new record:

“We became the band we wanted to be, rather than just the product of our early influences. ‘Immortal‘ is the latest chapter of that story of us as a band, as players and as people.”

Bonded (Ex-Sodom, Etc.) Sign With Century Media

Bonded, the band featuring Bernd “Bernemann” Kost (ex-Sodom), Markus “Makka” Freiwald (ex-Sodom), Ingo Bajonczak (Assassin), Chris Tsitsis (ex-Suicidal Angels), and Marc Hauschild, have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. With this news, the group also confirmed that they are currently finishing up their debut album.

Bernemann said the following:

“Bonded have proudly signed their contract and are now looking forward to the future cooperation with Century Media Records. As a local band from Dortmund, this union with the traditional Dortmund music label means a lot to us and we are excited to be a part of the Century family. We are familiar with CMR since their very beginnings in 1988 and we are very happy to have found a strong partner for the launch of Bonded in them”.

Makka added:

“A long and busy period lies behind us, as we are very proud and pleased to announce that Bonded has signed to Century Media Records. We have invested a lot of time, work and passion in the band and will now continue the journey together with a strong and heavy partner. We are looking forward to working with CMR and hope to stay Bonded for a long time.”

Century Media Records director Philipp Schulte also commented:

“We are very happy to announce the signing of Bonded. Welcome to Century Media! And welcome back, Makka and Bernemann! It was about time. The first recordings that Bonded played to us some months ago were already of very high quality. Now the debut album is in the making, and what I have heard speaks a very clear language: Bonded play straight-forward metal with a high level of musicality. Teutonic thrash done right. You better watch out!”

Black Crown Initiate Sign With Century Media Records

Black Crown Initiate have signed a new with Century Media Records. Vocalist Andy Thomas commented:

“It’s an incredible time for us as a band. We definitely have the most cohesive lineup we’ve ever had and cliché as it sounds, we are just finishing writing what we feel is our best album. To be on a label like Century Media with the pedigree that it has and the enthusiasm the people behind it have is refreshing as well. It’s a new chapter and in many ways a new beginning for us.”
