During a recent interview with 100.5 The KATT, HELLYEAH guitarist Tom Maxwell revealed that he will be undergoing surgery on his left hand in September. As a result, the band will most likely have to wait until November before they can continue touring in support of their new album “Welcome Home” (out September 27).
Maxwell said the following:
“I got in a car accident and broke my middle finger in my left hand. I keep getting trigger finger, which — it gets stuck. It’s really odd — an odd feeling. So I’ve got a series of cortisone shots, which the percentage of the cure rate from that is about 70 percent. Unfortunately, I didn’t fall into that. So now [ my doctor is] gonna go in and make a little incision and go in here and fix what’s not right.”
He also added the following about the timing being so close to the record’s release date:
“Better now than… I can’t keep getting these cortisone shots. You’re only allowed to have a certain amount. [My doctor] hooked me up last time before this [summer] tour. So I just have to get it done.”
Maxwell is expected to play the following dates with HELLYEAH before the surgery:
08/16 Houston, TX – House Of Blues
08/17 Dallas, TX – House Of Blues
09/06 Jacksonville, NC – The Tarheel
09/07 Greenville, SC – The Firmament
09/08 Concord, VA – Blue Ridge Rock Festival
