Charlie Griffiths (Haken) Premieres “Digging Deeper” Music Video

Charlie Griffiths (Haken) has premiered a new video for his song “Digging Deeper.” That track appears on his debut solo album “Tiktaalika.” Griffiths commented:

“In the context of ‘Tiktaalika,’ this song is a conversation between a fossilised ancestor and a modern day human, digging down though the rock strata, peeling back the layers of time. Both are connected, but are separated by hundreds of millions of years – until that point of discovery and reconnection. On a purely human level, we all have friends or family members we wish we could talk to again, but physically cannot and I was very much conscious of that feeling when writing and singing these words.”

Charlie Griffiths Shares Lyric Video For New Song “Arctic Cemetery” Featuring Tommy Rogers & Darby Todd

Charlie Griffiths (Haken) has shared a lyric video for his new song “Arctic Cemetery.” The track, which features Tommy Rogers (Between The Buried And Me) and Darby Todd, will appear on Griffiths‘ new solo album “Tiktaalika,” which is set to be released June 17.

Griffiths commented:

“‘Arctic Cemetery‘ is palaeontology meets progressive metal. A fossil-dig, through a melodic tech-metal landscape. I am incredibly lucky to have BTBAM’s Tommy Rogers on vocals and Darby Todd (Martin Barre, Devin Townsend) on drums. They are both consummate pros and elevated the song far beyond my expectations.

This was one of the first songs that came to life for the album and once I had the line ‘Dead and buried, laying in an Arctic Cemetery’ the idea blossomed. The song reflects upon the notion that modern humans can identify locations of graveyards, hundreds of millions of years old and find remnants of our ancestors and ask, what can this extinct creature teach us? I find that notion incredibly awe inspiring and humbling.”
