“‘VEN0M‘ is about being in a mentally abusive relationship – not just with a person, but also with bad habits and negative thought patterns… a mentally abusive relationship with yourself. I vividly remember writing this song not long after spending a night at a party in LA. As a sober and mostly introverted person who has never really been to parties, that was a hard time for me. I felt like an outcast and I felt overly self-critical in ways I didn’t know possible. I’ve always had trouble fitting in, and in that moment, I was 13 years old again, unsure of myself and where I fit in the world. I hope people can hear this and realize that these thoughts are universal and that your self-perceived shortcomings are often what make you unique.”
