Jane’s Addiction Guitarist Dave Navarro To Sit Out Upcoming Tour Due To His Battle With Long COVID

Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro will be missing the band’s upcoming tour with Smashing Pumpkins and Poppy. The guitarist is sitting out the trek due to complications related to his battle with Long COVID.

Navarro issued the following statement:

“To all of the Jane’s Addiction fans attending the Jane’s / The Smashing Pumpkins ‘Spirits On Fire‘ tour, I am sorry to have to say that I will not be attending due to my continued battle with Long Covid that I have been dealing with since last December. I had hoped for a full recovery by October but I am still very fatigued and will not be able to join this leg.

I am personally gutted as our original bass player has returned. Eric Avery. We wanted to bring you the original line up but that will have to wait until I am recovered. While the band is touring, I will be working on some new Jane’s material in the studio here in LA. In the meantime, the great Troy Van Leeuwen will be filling in for me.

He has been in such bands as Queens of the Stone Age, Failure, A Perfect Circle, Eagles of Death Metal & The Damned just to name a few. He is a great guy and I am honored to have him help make this tour happen. Though I am saddened to not make this tour I am focussed on making a full recovery and re-joining the guys when I am able.

I truly wish the band well on this tour and I am confident they will bring everything to make it a fabulous show! Go get em guys! Maybe I can get to a show one night and watch my own band for the first time ever., Thank you for understanding, Dave Navarro“

Porno For Pyros To Replace Jane’s Addiction At 2022 Lollapalooza Festival

Porno For Pyros will be replacing Jane’s Addiction at this year’s Lollapalooza festival. The band will be taking the stage during the fourth day of the event, which is set to take place at Grant Park in Chicago, IL on July 28-31. Jane’s Addiction Guitarist Dave Navarro Has Been Struggling With COVID-19 Symptoms Since December

As previously reported, Jane’s Addiction were forced to cancel their performance at the 2022 Welcome To Rockville festival due to Dave Navarro‘s “long bout with COVID.” Now, the guitarist has issued his own statement, saying that he has been struggling with symptoms since December.

Navarro said the following:

“So yeah, I’m one of the ones who came down with the “long haul covid”. Been sick since December and supposedly will be back to my old self in… nobody knows how long. If there are any of you who are still suffering long after your negative results, I’m just saying you aren’t alone.

The fatigue and isolation is pretty awful but try to spend your time with the ones you love and stay creative. That’s how I’m trying to get through this thing. Also lots of spiritual practices, meditation and yoga have been very helpful. I’ll be ok, just don’t know when. PS I’m not sure why I chose this picture to say all this. 🙄Maybe because who really cares and you gotta find fun somewhere? Or at least some levity.

Love and laughter are wonderful antidotes for a sickness that you really can’t track. Anyway thanks for listening and don’t worry about me. All indicators are pointing to a full recovery at some point! ❤️‍🩹 👩‍⚕️ 🏥 There’s really no more to say on the matter so I’d appreciate not receiving a bunch of DMs or texts.

Not out of disrespect for you guys, I’m just so tired of talking about this, I’m sure you can imagine! Sending you all love and light. Even to those of you who are stoked I’m sick! 😂”

Rockville, although we are blue that Jane’s cannot be with you at this time due to Dave’s long bout with COVID, I am still coming to Daytona, bringing to you for the first time in 26 years Porno For Pyros Featuring myself, Perry Farrrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefeno and Mike Watt. We’ll play some Jane’s songs for you as well, but for now let’s recall: My boat’s capsized it’s gonna sink to the bottom. I can see the lights on the shore…”

Perry Farrell On The Possibility Of New Jane’s Addiction Music: “I Would Love To See Us Record A Couple Of Tracks This Year”

During an interview with Consequence, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell was asked about the possibility of new music from the band. He responded with the following:

“With Jane’s Addiction, timelines … well, you never know. But what I would love to see … I would love to see us record a couple of tracks this year. Even if it’s two or three tracks … two tracks, I feel two is nice. I think people can take two, like two aspirin [laughs].”

He continued when asked about touring plans:

“We do have ambitions to hit the road this year, so it won’t be long before you’ll know if those ambitions have come to fruition.”

Perry Farrell On The Possibility Of A New Jane’s Addiction Album: “Maybe One More Album Before I Die Would Be Awesome”

During a recent appearance on AXS TV’s “At Home And Social With…”, Perry Farrell was asked about the possibility of a new Jane’s Addiction album. The frontman responded by saying it “would be awesome” to make “one more album” before he dies.

Farrell said the following:

“Well, I can’t speak for everybody, but I’ll speak for myself… Personally, I’ve been making music — I mean, I make music through the week. I have plans to release a track a month.

I love the guys in JANE’S ADDICTION and I wanna record with them. But I don’t know what their plans are. But I’ll talk to ’em about it.

These days, it’s a little bit different. We — meaning us older guys that are established now — there’s not really a need to come out with albums. Although maybe one more album before I die would be awesome, with JANE’S. And I think we can do it too. I would like to be prolific for the next five years, I think. Then I’ll be able to take a vacation.

I call ’em up from time to time, [and I tell them], ‘I’ve got this track, man.’ But they’re not ready. So I give it off to [my solo project] KIND HEAVEN ORCHESTRA.”

On another note, Farrell also confirmed that Porno For Pyros will be releasing a new song called “Aqua” in the near future. He said the following about that:

“It’s about how water affects mankind’s mental health.”
