“We’d like to address the questions surrounding Dave and the upcoming Jane‘s shows. As a band we are in a great place, writing new music, and the bond is tighter than ever. We all hope Dave can be out playing with us; when he feels heathy and ready.

For the near future, our brother Josh Klinghoffer will jump in for the upcoming shows on the West Coast, South America and some additional international shows to be announced soon. Jane’s Addiction May Record New Music With Multiple Guitarists

Jane’s Addiction have been working on new music, but it appears Dave Navarro may not be able to track a full album due to his battle with long COVID. As such, the band may recruit their touring guitarists Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age), Josh Klinghoffer (ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Daniel Ash (Bauhaus). Vocalist Perry Farrell told Alternative Press the following about that:

“I don’t know who will end up recording the guitar tracks, but I’d love to see Dave, Troy, Josh and Daniel contribute — all the guys on the tour that really stuck it out.”

Jane’s Addiction Cancel Immediate Live Dates After Perry Farrell Suffers Injury

Jane’s Addiction have dropped off their immediate live dates with Smashing Pumpkins and Poppy due to an injury that was sustained by frontman Perry Farrell. During their absence, Our Lady Peace will be filling in.

Farrell issued the following statement:

“Friends and lovers, the tour so far has been an absolute blast. Filled with so much joy, and rock vibes. I’ve loved seeing all your faces, hearing you sing with us and feeling the love and energy from each and every one of you. Especially all the people from my generation, and there’s been a lot of youngsters I have enjoyed speaking to. Good times.

I’d like to address a lot of the comments and give you all an update.

After Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, I suffered an injury that resulted in my inability to perform. I have since been in pain and discomfort and have been receiving rigorous physio therapy that has done wonders.

Due to doctors orders, we regrettably and forcibly have to cancel the following shows, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, as well as Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City. Our friends, Our Lady Peace will be covering the next three shows as we aim to rejoin the tour this Saturday in Cleveland.

I am filled with sadness and frustration to have to announce this, but I have to mend in order to continue the tour and get back on stage.

Thank you for your understanding.”

Jane’s Addiction Guitarist Dave Navarro To Sit Out Upcoming Tour Due To His Battle With Long COVID

Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro will be missing the band’s upcoming tour with Smashing Pumpkins and Poppy. The guitarist is sitting out the trek due to complications related to his battle with Long COVID.

Navarro issued the following statement:

“To all of the Jane’s Addiction fans attending the Jane’s / The Smashing Pumpkins ‘Spirits On Fire‘ tour, I am sorry to have to say that I will not be attending due to my continued battle with Long Covid that I have been dealing with since last December. I had hoped for a full recovery by October but I am still very fatigued and will not be able to join this leg.

I am personally gutted as our original bass player has returned. Eric Avery. We wanted to bring you the original line up but that will have to wait until I am recovered. While the band is touring, I will be working on some new Jane’s material in the studio here in LA. In the meantime, the great Troy Van Leeuwen will be filling in for me.

He has been in such bands as Queens of the Stone Age, Failure, A Perfect Circle, Eagles of Death Metal & The Damned just to name a few. He is a great guy and I am honored to have him help make this tour happen. Though I am saddened to not make this tour I am focussed on making a full recovery and re-joining the guys when I am able.

I truly wish the band well on this tour and I am confident they will bring everything to make it a fabulous show! Go get em guys! Maybe I can get to a show one night and watch my own band for the first time ever., Thank you for understanding, Dave Navarro“

Porno For Pyros To Replace Jane’s Addiction At 2022 Lollapalooza Festival

Porno For Pyros will be replacing Jane’s Addiction at this year’s Lollapalooza festival. The band will be taking the stage during the fourth day of the event, which is set to take place at Grant Park in Chicago, IL on July 28-31. This news comes after Porno For Pyros previously replaced Jane’s Addiction at Welcome To Rockville due to guitarist Dave Navarro’s struggles with long COVID.

Jane’s Addiction Guitarist Dave Navarro Has Been Struggling With COVID-19 Symptoms Since December

As previously reported, Jane’s Addiction were forced to cancel their performance at the 2022 Welcome To Rockville festival due to Dave Navarro‘s “long bout with COVID.” Now, the guitarist has issued his own statement, saying that he has been struggling with symptoms since December.

Navarro said the following:

“So yeah, I’m one of the ones who came down with the “long haul covid”. Been sick since December and supposedly will be back to my old self in… nobody knows how long. If there are any of you who are still suffering long after your negative results, I’m just saying you aren’t alone.

The fatigue and isolation is pretty awful but try to spend your time with the ones you love and stay creative. That’s how I’m trying to get through this thing. Also lots of spiritual practices, meditation and yoga have been very helpful. I’ll be ok, just don’t know when. PS I’m not sure why I chose this picture to say all this. 🙄Maybe because who really cares and you gotta find fun somewhere? Or at least some levity.

Love and laughter are wonderful antidotes for a sickness that you really can’t track. Anyway thanks for listening and don’t worry about me. All indicators are pointing to a full recovery at some point! ❤️‍🩹 👩‍⚕️ 🏥 There’s really no more to say on the matter so I’d appreciate not receiving a bunch of DMs or texts.

Not out of disrespect for you guys, I’m just so tired of talking about this, I’m sure you can imagine! Sending you all love and light. Even to those of you who are stoked I’m sick! 😂”

As previously reported, the festival will take place at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL on May 19-22.

Organizers commented:

“While we’re saddened that Jane’s Addiction can no longer join us, we are beyond excited to have Porno For Pyros perform live for the first time in 26 years ON OUR STAGE THIS WEEKEND. 🤯 🤘 Sending healing vibes to you Dave Navarro 🖤”

Perry Farrell added:

“The gang and the government are no different. That makes me 1%. Rockville, although we are blue that Jane’s cannot be with you at this time due to Dave’s long bout with COVID, I am still coming to Daytona, bringing to you for the first time in 26 years Porno For Pyros Featuring myself, Perry Farrrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefeno and Mike Watt. We’ll play some Jane’s songs for you as well, but for now let’s recall: My boat’s capsized it’s gonna sink to the bottom. I can see the lights on the shore…”
