Contracult Premiere “The Infirmary” Music Video

Contracult have premiered a new video for their new song “The Infirmary.” This track is from the band’s new album “The New Torment,” which will be released on November 4.

Director Kyle Kouri commented:

“I wanted to create a three-and-a-half minute little horror movie that felt and looked like Metropolis meets Re-Animator meets Weekend at Bernie’s. Travis and I both appreciated the comedy of the plot, and the low budget ’80s vibe of the set and shots, but we also wanted there to be a real sense of grief in this video. ‘The Infirmary‘ is about a man helping his partner in an assisted suicide and the long process of saying goodbye afterwards. I think we were able to create an authentic mix of camp and compassion.”

Frontman Svart added:

“We all pity the sick and injured but one talks about the tragedy of the nurse. The ones who work day and night, feeding, dressing and cleaning their patients, for no real reward. The hours are long, the salary is small and the work can be abusive. You always resent the ones you love, in ‘The Infirmary.’”

Contracult Premiere “The Glutton” Music Video

Contracult have premiered a new video for their new song “The Glutton.” This track is from the band’s new album “The New Torment,” which will be released on November 4.

The band told Revolver the following about the song:

“[It] reflects on the struggles of eating disorders, body dysmorphia and a rigorous exercise routine followed by binge eating,”

Vocalist Svart also commented on the album:

“While I was proud of the music we created before, I felt as though the songs we were writing always came from this lens of these outdated writing formulas which we had to ‘learn’ rather than them just be something that came out of us. With ‘The New Torment‘ I feel we were able to hone in on the sound more organically and not follow some rule book that doesn’t even exist. With this record we wanted more of a ‘Downward Spiral‘ thing going on. Every song has its own unique vibe and texture while still sounding like it’s all from the same band. The record was written and produced during probably the most precarious time for me. I was diagnosed as bipolar during the creation of it. It’s a piece of work I am forever proud of, but it almost killed me.”

Guitarist Cultprit added:

“From the heavy bands that are lifelong influences to me, from Napalm Death to Fear Factory, to modern rap like City Morgue. The crossover styles of artists like Ghostemane were definitely inspiring to get juiced up and have the urgency to write. Having Bx in the band opened the doors quite a bit too and helped expand our writing.”

Contracult Collective Premiere “WDYT” Video

Contracult Collective have premiered a new video for their new single “WDYT” via Revolver. The band commented:

“With the concept of the song meeting the state everyone was thrown into during this pandemic, we were able to channel a vision to present in this video easily. To make this, we just used our cell phones and general frustration to snapshot our experience in this unfortunate time in history.”

Contracult Collective Sign With Roadrunner Records

Contracult Collective have signed a new deal with Roadrunner Records. With this news, the band have also released a new song titled “Hogtied” and a cover of Hole‘s “Violet.“ The group commented:

“We’ve worked harder than we ever have in our lives with Roadrunner on this to create the band we needed to exist. This is for the true freaks.”
