Tim Payne told Billboard the following:

“As an album, ‘Violet’ encapsulates everything we’ve been trying to accomplish since we formed as a band. Which is to give us each, as individual musicians, a safe space to explore music in ways that we have not yet had the chance to. Having become much more familiar with each other as artists, we were able to continue to push each other’s creative limits, but this time with a concerted effort to put the songs above all else. This helped create a very cohesive sound, while still being true to our own stylistic choices.”

Travis Stever also added the following in a press release:

“‘Violet’ is a sonic journey into the depths of every band member of L.S. Dunes. The collaborative efforts to bring each song to a full potential came naturally. It’s the album that has always lived in us individually but could only be made together. It has melodies that have lived within me since I was a child. It was only with this band I would be able to find a place where they could find a home in song.”
