Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Purchases Rights To Famous Monsters Brand

According to Rolling Stone, Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) has purchased the rights to the Famous Monsters brand. The frontman is planning to relaunch the magazine and use its name for new toys, films, and festivals. Furthermore, Taylor and his business partner Eben McGarr (Mad Monsters) have also obtained the rights to Captain Company and the life story of Famous Monsters founding editor Forrest Ackerman. Taylor is currently trying to digitize every issue of Famous Monsters so people can read them online for free. He also wants to put on a Famous Monsters convention in honor of Ackerman and founding publisher Jim Warren. Taylor commented:

“Our job is to build a foundation to bring Famous Monsters into the modern age, while also honoring the legacy that came before. It’s the whole reason that we were fans to begin with.”
