Kanye West Removes Unauthorized “Iron Man” Sample After Getting Blasted By Ozzy Osbourne

As previously reported, Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne recently blasted Kanye West for sampling a live version of “Iron Man” from his solo set at the 1983 US Festival without permission. Now, the track, which is titled “Carnival,” has since been released without the sample. This news comes after the original version was played during a listening party for West and Ty Dolla $ign’s new album “Vultures 1.”

Osborne previously said the following:

“Kanye West ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A SECTION OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF “IRON MAN” FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS & WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY. HE WENT AHEAD AND USED THE SAMPLE ANYWAY AT HIS ALBUM LISTENING PARTY LAST NIGHT. I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”

Ozzy’s wife/manager Sharon Osbourne, who is of Jewish descent, also commented in a new interview with Billboard:

“We get so many requests for these songs and when we saw that request, we just said no way. The simple thing is, we don’t want to be associated with a hater. To spread hate the way he does, it shouldn’t be allowed. All the excuses — he’s bipolar or whatever — doesn’t change that. It’s like, fuck you, basically.”

Sharon also confirmed that West would have required permission from all four members of Black Sabbath’s original lineup to get the sample cleared.
