Charlie Benante Says Pantera Will Only Play “Select” Shows

As previously reported, vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown are planning to play some Pantera shows next year with guitarist Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) and drummer Charlie Benante (Anthrax) set to fill in for the late Abbott brothers. Now, while chatting with fans in Orlando, FL, Benante and his Anthrax bandmates commented on Pantera’s return and the impact it will have on their plans.

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Frank Bello said the following about their plans:

Ian: “The Pantera thing is not gonna change anything we’re doing.”

Bello: “We’ll still be working.”

Benante also revealed that Pantera are only planning to play “select” shows. He continued when asked about a full-length tour: “I don’t think so.”

The drummer also had the below exchange with a fan regarding the “flak” Pantera are receiving:

Benante: “Why is there flak?”

Fan: “People are stupid.”

Benante: “There you go”

Benante then addressed the haters, saying “don’t come.”
