Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) has officially released his two-part mini-documentary and song “Play.” The feature was directed by Grohl with some help from “Sound City” and “Sonic Highways” collaborator Mark Monroe. The first part focuses on Grohl’s love of playing music and the process and challenges that went into performing and filming his new 23-minute song, while the second part shows him playing the epic track with seven different instruments live in the studio one by one. The documentary was filmed in black and white by Brandon Trost and fans can check it out below or view it as part of an interactive experience that allows them to watch everything as is, focus on one particular instrument, and download the sheet music. The online version also includes a list of organizations where time, money, and instruments can be donated to help give people a chance to play live music. Aside from all this, the film also showcases young musicians from the Join the Band music school in the San Fernando Valley.
