Ghost finished off their “Meliora“/”Popestar” touring cycle in Gothenburg, SWE last night (September 30), and ended the show by “retiring” Papa Emeritus III. The singer was dragged off stage by men in suits, and the crowd was introduced to the elderly Papa Emeritus Zero, who said the following [translated from Italian]: “I am Papa Emeritus Zero. The party is over. The Middle Ages are starting now.” This is likely the precursor to Papa Emeritus IV, and the band’s new album, which is expected to be released in April 2018.
